    Took the summer off to enjoy the pool with a desert landscape, but now are going full throttle on laying down our travertine. Going to nice not to have sand in the pool this year.

    Just bought 12% from Menards in Clive. They have 300+ gallons.

    Pipe Joint Compound or Silicon tape?

    Not sure which is better, but I will let you know my experience. I used joint compound that you buy in a jar with a brush and I had leaks around by return jet plumbing. I had to cut them out and use tape. I saw no issues on the suction side around the skimmer.

    We over dug ourselves and used the 4" concrete blocks and shingles to get our level.

    We took a break and used our pool for the last month and now are starting work on laying the travertine. We first poured a ring of concrete around the pool to mortar the coping and plan to dry set the rest. Looking at the autocover box we noticed that the box is 3/4" too tall for the 1.25"...

    Finish up the inspection process now that we can bond the deck then start with the travertine. We compacted while we filled and will compact before we lay the pavers. There is always a cooler at my house!!!

    Slippery Steps!!

    I had people slip this weekend and every time I tried to slip I couldn't. The vinyl was squeaky clean, I think they were slipping on the edge of the step and not the actual flat part of step.

    When I turn on the breaker the light turns on and the #1 is off. The only way to turn it off is br the breaker.
