I'm pretty sure that is one of the recommended test kits. The other being the TFTest kit. The TFTest kit might cost a little more, I can't remember but it is the better bargain for the amount of reagents you get.

Nope. I never have had to shock (SLAM) after the initial opening each spring. I test every night and dose accordingly and my water stays clear all season.
