Recommendations for leak detection in northern California

Its actually in the middle of the deep side (on both sides). For some reason, I am unable to upload pics here. See link: https://picasaweb.google.com/114542447327227035177/PoolLeak. as you can see, the crack is on both sides of the pool right in the middle of the deep side. It starts all the way...

Recommendations for leak detection in northern California

Looks like the problem is back. I had a leak detection company come in and find the leak (it was a few cracks that I had in the pool). They applied generous amounts of putty, and the issue was resolved.....at least for a few months. The leak is back (we had a minor earthquake, and I think that...

    Pool filter locking ring assembly

I just woke up this morning to see that my pool filter locking ring assembly is cracked. I am assuming it cannot be repaired and the only option is to replace the ring, right? Any thoughts on where to buy the ring? Amazon has it for 51 dollars. Is that a good price (seems high for a piece of...

    Pool leak

Ok. The level stopped close to the pool light. I think that is where the leak is. Any thoughts on how/ what to check for?

Recommendations for leak detection in northern California

I let the water level drop and it has stopped close to the pool light. It also seems to be sucking in the dye. Is that leak easy to fix?

Recommendations for leak detection in northern California

Title says it all. I have a leak in my pool. Does anyone have recommendations for good pool leak detection companies in the Bay Area? I know ALD is one. Any other ones people have used with good results? Thanks

    Pool leak

Did a dye test yesterday and looks like it may not be the cracks. I saw the die getting sucked behind the pool light, as well as the main drain. I am planning to let the water drop and see where it stops.

    Pool leak

I have a 22K gallon inground gunite pool that is leaking. I am in the bay area, and the leak seems to have started since the recent earthquake we have a few weeks ago. I am trying to figure out the source of the leak. The pump is off and the leak did not stop at the skimmer. So I am thinking it...

Using change in FC level to measure pool size

I am helping a friend set himself up for self pool maintenance. Ran the tests on his pool last night. FC 3.5 CC 0.5 CYA 90 He has an odd sized pool. Our initial estimate of pool size was 15K gallons, and we added in 3 gallons of Chlorox. FC was 21.5 after 2 hours indicating we overestimated...

    Can't stop pool stains

Thanks. That's good to know. I think you are right about the calcium scaling since I also saw some white residue on the tiles. Now that I think of it, the first time I checked the chemicals in my pool after I bought the house, everything was fine except for low calcium. And all these problems...

    Can't stop pool stains

I will try and upload better pics. I was getting an error saying the size is more than the limit. My ph was 7.2. At my current chemical levels and water temperature of 54, the CSI was - 0.75. I increased my pH to get CSI greater than - 0.6. Should I have not done that? The issue is my CH level...

    Can't stop pool stains

Hi all, I am a relatively new owner of a 40 year old pool. I have been following the BBB method, but am having trouble preventing the pool from staining. There have been a number of new stains that have developed in the last 4 months since I bought the house (most look like dirt). I have kept...

    CH levels falling

Thanks everyone. I went back and looked at pics for calcium scaling. I have stains on the pool wall, but don't think they are calcium related now that I have looked at the pics. I think it is due to the leak, as all of you suggested. The good news is that I think I know where the leak is from...

    CH levels falling

I am using the Taylor kit recommended on pool school (k-2006?). There is some scaling on the pool walls. I was not sure since the calcium level was usually low. Isn't scaling caused due to high calcium levels?

    CH levels falling

Thanks for the response. There is a small leak in my pool that I am working to fix. So maybe it is that. Current CH is 125 (I had increased it to 250 about a month back). I have not checked the CH of fill water. I will try and do that later today. No autofill.

    CH levels falling

All, I recently bought a 40 year old house with a pool (I am assuming just as old). Not sure when the pool was last replastered. I find that the CH level falls by 100 ppm over a month. Is that typical? I am happy to keep adding Calcium Chloride but want to make sure this is not indicative of...

Pump damaged due to water level below skimmer

Thanks everyone. I will get my pump fixed. Btw, the pool guy mentioned that my booster pump location is not ideal. My current set up for water flow is pool -> suction pump -> filter -> roof solar heater -> booster pump -> gas heater -> pool. He said that the booster pump should be before the...

Pump damaged due to water level below skimmer

I just bought a house with an inground pool and have been using BBB for pool maintenance. While that is working out well, I am having a host of problems with my equipment. My pumps (suction and booster) are constantly leaking. The impeller on the booster pump just burnt out and the pool guy told...
