Do I need to deal with Copper first?

Related question - can I intentionally mess with the pH to *encourage* it to stain the liner? I'd much rather have some ugly stains on the liner and a nice, reasonable copper level in the water without sequestration. My liner is basically trash as it is, and I don't care if it looks a little...

Do I need to deal with Copper first?

No copper staining, and the liner is trash so I don't care if it does stain. It needs to be replaced next year anyway. Right now the pH is higher, should I add acid then to lower the pH? Does pH generally change on it's own from chlorine/normal reactions of the chlorine working?

Do I need to deal with Copper first?

I'm pretty sure that my copper is currently at 0.3 or 0.4 (drained and refilled partially to lower it from 0.6), and I'm planning on sequestering it if it causes problems, but only of i have to. I can't test copper myself, but if I need to i can have Leslie's check it... My current stats are...

Filter broke after partial drain, what now?

I'm more worried about the leaking pump, poorly maintained (or super old) filter cartridge failing. But if it lasts all summer, that's fine with me

Filter broke after partial drain, what now?

Got one! It's the kind for blocking the return when closing pool, but it's working fine... not sure I'd want to trust it long term, but I'm probably replacing this whole filter this summer. Thanks everyone

Filter broke after partial drain, what now?

The better pool store had already closed for the weekend when it broke, and the open ones didnt answer the phone on Sunday, so I will check again today. The water still has over 5 FC (it was at 13 before the partial drain because I over chlorinated during SLAM), and it still has a lot of copper...

    Thanks, I'll do that tomorrow!

Filter broke after partial drain, what now?

So I posted previously about my pool adventures that led to a recommendation of draining the pool to lower the copper in it. I brought it down to about 24in of water (was concerned about drying out the worst of the liner wrinkles), and then ran water in and out of it for about 4 hours, before...

Started it draining, is there anything I should keep an eye out for as a warning sign of problems with the liner?

    Swamp thing

I plan on replacing the liner next year, if we like having a pool. If not, we'll tear the whole thing down anyway. Should I get the Jack's magic blue stuff to sequester it? Will that reduce the chances of turning hair green?

    Swamp thing

I'm reluctant to drain it that much because its not in the greatest shape, and I'm wondering if it's just going to reveal issues with the liner, which has huge wrinkles in it, and needs to be replaced. Is it safe to drain it that much with a questionable liner? Any considerations I should be...

    Swamp thing

I am not sure what problem to tackle first, I have a wildly messed up pool and I'm a newby. Here is the long version of the story: So I purchased a new house in the fall, and the prior owners closed the pool before we moved in. The winter chlorine dispensers were incorrectly put in, so it...
