    Not impressed

Oh oh. The EVQ165 has a service factor of 1 so does this mean I bought the wrong pump? Ed

    Not impressed

Yep, that's the impeller I PURCHASED so I'm at a loss here. I have a volt meter and the volts show 244 so that's correct. I don't have an amp meter so I can't check that, but I'm assuming it's correct since the volts are correct. The WFE-6 (actually, the century pump itself, P/N 177451-03 that...

    Not impressed

For those that have been following my prior thread regarding my DEAD WFE-6 MOTOR, I purchased and installed a new EVQ165 motor but to be honest, so far I'm not impressed with its performance. It works, but it's just not pushing the same amount of water the old single speed WFE-6 pump did. For...

    Chlorine? Shock?

Ok, just to update everyone, the guy from Leslie's Pool came out and looked at my system and agreed that the IntelliTouch I5 WILL run a variable speed pump, so I ended up getting the VGREEN EVQ165. I'll let you know if it works when it arrives and I install it. Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Well, after a little research it does appear that the two speed pumps are legal in California AND it appears my IntelliTouch I5 can work with it (see attached). However, I'm still going to have the Leslie's pool guy come out and verify everything before I spend any money. The question now is...

    Chlorine? Shock?

Is a two speed motor legal in California? I was under the impression that the new laws required a "variable" speed. Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Thank you. I've looked at those as well but they're priced way above my budget. Unless they have a variable speed motor that will replace my current WFE-6?? I don't need the wet half. Or at least I don't THINK so! Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Thanks but that doesn't appear to be a variable speed motor though. Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

WAIT A MINUTE!!! Do I HAVE to replace the entire pump assembly or can I just replace the old single speed motor with a new VARIABLE SPEED MOTOR? There's nothing wrong with the wet half so is it California legal to just replace the pump? Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

No one has any comments on any of those pumps? I realize opinions are just that, but I'd still be curious as to what you guys have to say. Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Ok, more questions. This time about the pump. I know I have to buy a variable speed pump (welcome to California folks), but which one? Right now I have a single speed WhisperFlo 1.5HP model WFE-6 so I'd like to get something comparable in the way of horse power, but even more importantly...

    Chlorine? Shock?

No, I don't have a sump pump. Living in southern California I've never had a need for one (no basement and we don't get a lot of rain). That's not a bad idea though. Thanks Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Thanks Pat. The inspection appointment from Leslie's is this Tuesday and they're going to let me know what I can use with my old Pentair Intelli-Touch System i5 system. It may take a few days after that to actually get it installed so I'll probably buy 4 packs of the chlorine. Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Yes, that helps a lot. I'm looking at THIS FROM WALMART which is 10 percent Sodium Hypochlorite in a 2, one gallon package for $11.23. I'll get three packs which should last through Wednesday of next week, which should be loong enough for the new pump to be installed. Thanks again Pat Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Thanks Pat. Do you have a brand in mind? Also, how much do I put in? The pool's approx 17k gallons so a gallon of chlorine a day or what? Ed

    Chlorine? Shock?

Hello all. My pool pump passed away on Tuesday (blowing circuit breakers all over the place) and I can't get it replaced until next Tuesday, so I'm not able to vacuum or more importantly, generate chlorine from my salt cell. In the meantime, I have to add chlorine manually, so my basic questions...

No go. I spoke to Phil and he said they don't sell to the public. Thanks anyway James. Ed

    Well, I'm hosed

I didn't bother to ask. The guy that answered the phone was very surly. I asked him if they repaired motors and he said no, so I just said thank you and hung up. As a matter of fact, when he answered the phone he just said "yeah?"!!! No hello, no good morning, no niceties at all! Ed

    Well, I'm hosed

Ok, a little update. After a lot of research, apparently the WFE-8 motor is no longer available but the replacement motor for the WFE-8 is the B2843 and there are two styles. The first is the type with the start capacitor on the top of the motor like my original WFE-8 (and the EBAY MOTOR I...

    Well, I'm hosed

It is the Jacuzzi booster pump, so maybe the law doesn't apply? I ask because I found THIS PUMP on ebay from a noted seller. It's a good price and comes with the Go kit. I've sent him an email asking if he can ship it to California. Stay tuned... Ed

    Well, I'm hosed

A few days ago I noticed my Jacuzzi wasn't turning on with all the other pumps. (I have the Jacuzzi and the waterfall set to run 15 minutes each, once a week just to keep the algae down) So I started investigating and when I turn the Jacuzzi motor on, it hums but doesn't turn on, so I figured a...

Why do I have a bad feeling about this?

I found some on ebay for $25 each so I got two. (one for a spare). Now I have to get a diving mask and snorkel and then screw up my courage to dive into 65-70 degree water! And it's getting colder each day! Ed

Why do I have a bad feeling about this?

It was built in 2005 so does that make it old? I found out the cover is a Color Match Pool Fitting P/N 8-AV but the color is difficult to make out. It may be white but it looks like it's light gray or maybe bone. The problem is that I can find them online but they're like $50 bucks each plus...
