SLAM Advice - 2 Weeks and 100L of CL

Hello! I've been slamming for over two weeks now. The pool is finally crystal clear, but I still am consuming 7L of CL a day. Chlorine levels over the last two weeks have been around 26, recently bumped to 31.5 since it is mustard algae. It's been close to 31 for a few days now. And I do have...

I selected restore purchase, and indeed I see it now. All good, I see the CSV format.

    Pool Math........The App

Funny, the only export option is in poolmathbackup format which at first glance looks to be json. No csv export option.

    Pool Math........The App

Probably time i start using the app. I see an import option, but no indication of the csv format? Where can I find this info? If i select a file, it just asks what pool to import. I'm using a third party app which i can massage into the correct format if I know what it is.

Closing Pool, Thoughts on Letting it Go

Indeed it is! After a recent storm, it took 20 rounds of the jetvac to clean!

Closing Pool, Thoughts on Letting it Go

Unfortunately, the pump isn't variable. I do run it at minimum in winter, like two hours. Sounds like I'll have to just suck it up, or get a cover.

    CC Question

The pool isn't covered. I've owned the pool for three years but never cleaned the sand filter. Funny, I've read alot on this forum over the years, but don't recall this. I'll give that a try.

    CC Question

Hey, I had to Slam because my SWG stopped and it was a hot week. I'm just finishing up, pool is clear, overnight test passes. But my CC is 1.0 My question is that I always have lots of leaves from an overhead tree and my CC is usually 1.0 at the best of times. I'd normally stop the SLAM like...

Closing Pool, Thoughts on Letting it Go

Hey, I'm in Sydney, and we shut our pool for almost six months. The economics are such that electricity is expensive, chemicals are cheaper. What would be the downside to leave the pool unmanaged, and slam on opening? I've been thinking of trying it next year. What is stopping me is the dread...

Wireless Temperature Sensor For About $50

It's the Xiaomi ecosystem backed by Home Assistant on Raspberry Pi. In my IMHO, I have seen nothing cheaper. It monitors my pool pump and booster pump power consumption and will actually trigger a halt if the power drops too much, or the vacuum (booster pump) is on without the main pump on. It's...

Wireless Temperature Sensor For About $50

Hello! Thought I'd share a pool temperature sensor I put together for about $50. I was already invested in zigbee and had a thought. Xiaomi Zigbee Gateway, the brain to forward all my Zigbee devices to Home Assistant. Zigbee powerplug as a Zigbee repeater so the signal can reach the pool...

    Call for collaboration

Where did this end up? I had such plans too, but no time :( I connect my pump and booster pump for vacuum to wifi power. My raspberry pi can auto shutdown when Wattage drops. This happens when pressure gets high, but it isn't a perfect proxy for a proper pressure sensor. But saved my bacon a few...

    Taylor Cl Question

I purchase all the time from CCL :p The Taylor kit was a steal on Gumtree so it doesn't bother me if not all tests work.

    Taylor Cl Question

I don't know how it was stored, but score for all the other tests working. I haven't tried, but does doubling the drops compensate for the deterioration? Even if I get only 10 tests because I'm using 50 drops, I won't mind doing that.

Test DPD. I never realised there was an expiry, 😂. Expiry 07/18.

    Calcium too low

Check TFP levels web page, it gives good advice on ranges. I would raise your calcium to like 400. And since you have SWG, I'd up CYA too.

    Taylor Cl Question

I bought an used Taylor test kit off someone for $50. In Australia, that's like 20% of the price! I baselined all tests and now I see why he sold it. A tests are fine except CL. It massively under reports. The best I can do is use 1.8ml of water and double the drops (10 each) and then multiply...

    Testing Options in Australia

No worries Bret. We discussed by email that AU Post could be the issue. I did another round of testing because it annoys the heck out of me too. What I've determined is that because my pool is so big, my original Calcium test was too small to be effectively picked up by standard testing. When...

Best Way to "close" Pool in Sydney, Australia

Daytime temps are about 60F now and won't really drop more than 55F. Night can be as low as 48F. I'll re-balance, SLAM, and stop the SWG this weekend, and run the pump 3 hours a day. I'm not keen on algaecide given the cost, so I'll skip that. Thanks for the tip and let's see how I go this year.

Best Way to "close" Pool in Sydney, Australia

Hello! I've read all the articles about closing a pool, but they don't seem to apply to my situation. I have a SWG in-ground pool and I don't have a cover. My wife keeps telling me to dump in algaecide and copper, turn off the SWG generator, let the CL drop until zero, and run pump minimally...

    Testing Options in Australia

My last post on this. I got access to a Taylor test kit and did a complete comparision with CCL. CH and CYA were off as previously thought and by the ratios mentioned. Taylor kits did tests perfectly and have validated what I've thought. I'll still support CCL when they ship again, we need to...

    Testing Options in Australia

So I bought a Calcium tests with similar reagents. 40ppm sensitivity instead of 25. It was pretty close to the pool shop readings. So I consider it sufficiently proved that I have two confirmed ClearChoice Labs Calcium tests that don't work. Either CCL have a bad batch or something like heat...
