    Salt vs non-salt pool

I just switched this season and am already dialed in pretty close. No way I'm going back. I was using 1 to 1.5 gallons of bleach per day last year. What a pain. So much nicer to just check to make sure all is working and test the water a few times a week. It makes maintaining a sanitary pool...

Correct. It looks like it is behind the conduit just under the power unit.

Help with Pool Chemistry (High pH, very low FC)

Once you get your CYA to 70-ish you'll be able to get a better handle on how much to run your SWG. I'd assume you'll be able to run it a bit less and that should help the PH rise issue some.

Converting to SWG. Going from 0 to 3400ppm question.

I assumed that my pool had some salt from the chlorine so that was another reason I undershot. Maybe it just seemed like 20 bags. :kim: I figured the test strips were at fault which is why I tested them on my buddy's pool to verify. Ugh. It's too cold to swim anyway so I have some time to...

Converting to SWG. Going from 0 to 3400ppm question.

I used salt test strips. I haven't got around to ordering a resupply from TFTestkits yet of my other needed stuff and will order a better salt test setup when I do. The strips I used tested accurately to my friend's pool with a salt level readout on his control panel so I figured they'd get me...

Converting to SWG. Going from 0 to 3400ppm question.

Over the off season I picked up a Pentair IC60 to convert my pool to saltwater goodness. Using PoolMath I came up with needing about 940 pounds of salt to bring me to 3400ppm so I added 800 pounds last week figuring I probably had some salt in the water from using chlorine and I wanted to creep...

    Is vacuuming required?

I'd say if you notice grit, dirt or whatever accumulating on the bottom then get a vacuum. Otherwise it seems as though your robot is taking care of it.

particles visible at night when pool lights are on

Even after deep cleaning my sand filter I still had a ton of floaties visible by the light at night. I changed the sand and I see very few now. My pump run times are the same as before.

New Saltwater Vinyl Pool Owner - Etiquette Questions..

Just be straightforward and "firm" with whatever rules you decide on. If people don't respect you enough to honor your wishes then they can go to a public pool. Our rules are simple. No glass within the fenced pool area, our two pool swimming golden retrievers have "right of way", and have fun...

    Pool Service Guy - I don't think we're getting our money's worth

I bought my house last fall which came with a lovely inground pool. After reading a ton through this site this past Summer has been a breeze. I spend an hour-ish a week testing/cleaning and have had zero issues maintain clear/healthy water. I am certainly no rocket scientist so I'm sure y'all...

How do I get rid of these pool pests? :-)

We have 5 and the other 3 don't care much for it. One is an older golden and he kinda fell in once and just stood on the bottom looking surprised before I scooped him up.:drown: :-o :p The darker golden in the .gif above swims circles around us and tries to take anything we are holding onto...

First time pool owner, sanity checking my numbers

Just a note on the sand filter...... I was having some issues with filtering after acquiring my house and somewhat neglected pool (it looked great but there were lingering issues). New guy - first post - I need help if this pool is getting used before winter

The previous owners of my pool knew about as much about my "new" pool as the folks you bought from did. My sand filter was not doing a very good job even though I did several deep cleanings. Finally I shop vac'ed the sand out, inspected the laterals and piping. I found no issues then replaced...

BGE or Gas Grill for Primary??

I only have a BGE (XL) and I have no desire for a gas grill. The BGE is at temperature in less than 1/2 an hour which gives me time for food prep. If I am in that big of a rush where I would use a gas grill then I just cook inside. The BGE (or similar quality ceramic cookers) are a premium...

My no good, awful, very bad SLAM

I think that foam will dissipate eventually but you can skim it off with a bucket/large dustpan to speed up the process a bit. Are you sure that pool is 44K gallons? From the pic I'd guess low-ish 20's.

CYA test with R-7065 standardized solution - Huh?

I thought the 50 ppm solution was premixed......meaning you just pour that straight in the tube without any r-7065 mixed in. I may be wrong of course but give that a shot.

    Why convert to the TPF

The reason for me was simple.......no service would care about my pool as much as me regardless of my schedule. If a pool service only comes once a week and can make it "ok" then there is no reason I couldn't do better. This is my 1st full season and it really couldn't be much easier for a...
