    SWG - No FC???

I’m wondering if my high phosphates are causing the SWG to not work properly. Difference websites and article suggest yes or no. Including some posts on here. If that’s possible that could be the cause of both the low FC and the cloudy water. I’ve put a lot of different metal products in our...

    SWG - No FC???

Thanks I was not holding at waist level, was not glancing, and did not let it sit several minutes only 30 seconds. However, having just followed that procedure I still can see the dot easily when filled to the top of the tube (which is a bit hard as the tube has cracked near the top).

    SWG - No FC???

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tested and retested several times and get the same results for CYA.

    SWG - No FC???

I was wrong before. I have actually added 8 LBS of stabilizer and have something below 30 according to my test and 22 per the LPS. I just got another 4 lbs and will add half and give it a few days.

    SWG - No FC???

My CYA is a bit of a guess as the tube is cloudy but I can still see the dot. So it's definitely below 30, but above 0. Side question: is it safe to add a chlorine puck into the skimmer basket or will it cause pump damage? I had one in a floater but it took two weeks to dissolve so I doubt...

    SWG - No FC???

I went to the LPS (yes I know) to get some liquid chlorine (limited to one carton due to the shortage) and I needed a new pole. I had them test my water just to see. Yes I know. Their readings using their computer test kit system: FC 1.64 TC 2.04 PH 7.2 Alk 195 CH 137 CYA 22 Salt 3300 TDS...

    SWG - No FC???

Well Crud. Pool is slightly cloudy yesterday, less so today but still a bit. Tested the water yesterday after two days of crappy weather where the pool remained closed with the top fully closed. FC - 0.0. Ugh. SWG was set at 25% Yesterday I added 1 gal chlorine, 1 lbs of stabilizer and...

    SWG - No FC???

I'm just trying to raise FC slowly so the Iron does not drop out of solution again. I was not aware that I could test the FC using 25ml, but I'll do so next time.

OCLT Results: -0.5 After the kids swam for a while yesterday, I closed the pool for an hour, removed the floater and unplugged the SWG. Half hour later I tested. Each time tested from the same location, roughly 1/3 down the pool, away from jets, about 12 inches under the surface. FC at sun...

    SWG - No FC???

For the OCLT: 1. Can I do it with FC at 2.5? Instructions say to have 3.0, so should I spike a bit of liquid to get the levels up over 3.0? 2. I have a floater with a couple of pucks in the pool. They are VERY slowly dissolving - to the point I doubt they are doing much. I can go pull it...

    SWG - No FC???

The last couple of days the pool looks great. Very clear, no slime, no sign of any issues. I don’t have the new test kit yet but based on the existing kit. FC - 1-2. Hard to tell. It’s a much deeper yellow but no orange tint. Defiantly over 1, the no orange suggests not yet 3. according to a...

    SWG - No FC???

3 lbs stabilizer added via sock. Pool has a slight brown tint in the deep end, but otherwise is clear. FC - 0.6 (added about 1/4 gallon after test) SWG still at 50% Pressure at 15lbs - after a quick vacuum for a light bit of debris that settled. -- note to self, buy a better vacuum head --...

    SWG - No FC???

Ok, got some stabilizer. Had to get it at the pool store. Walmart was out and Home Depot around here doesn't carry pool supplies in stores. $20 for 4 lbs. My next question is: I was told by the pool company that did our opening and our SWG system that the pool is about 18,000 gallons. But...

    SWG - No FC???

Thanks. I think I just need to figure out how to manage the iron this year, then next year I'll truck in water and dilute the issue and hopefully in a couple years it will be completely out of the water.

    SWG - No FC???

Yesterday there was a slight clear film on the walls of the pool that I brushed off. There has not been any green tint to the water. I have also never added any type of algaecide besides chlorine.

    SWG - No FC???

Thanks Tex. I have not added the CYA yet. I'm heading to Walmart shortly to see if they have some in stock and to see if they have a Taylor test kit. I did add some of that Pool Magnet Plus as I ordered some a while back. It has reduced the brown color substantially, but the pressure on the...

    SWG - No FC???

Good morning readings: FC - 0.2 PH - 7.2 SWG still set to 50% Alk - 250 ish CH - 250 My kit will test for "acid demand" what the heck is that? So, my uneducated guess is the FC is being used up by oxidizing the iron, which is why it is dropping even with the SWG being turned up so high? If...

So doing some reading this Pool Magnet Plus from Bioguard and Metal Magnet are both cheating agents and work similarly.

    SWG - No FC???

BTW - Stain magnet, which has worked as a sequestrant agent well before, per the company is a SODIUM SULFITE and SODIUM ERYTHROBATE mixture.

    SWG - No FC???

Ok, I was able to get a Poolmaster 5 way test kit. I'll have to order a better one from Amazon. FC - around 1ppm PH - around 7.2-7.4 Alk - around 250 From test strips FC - 3ppm TC - 3ppm PH - 7.8 Alk - 250 TH - 250 Water is now a deep brown. Does the Bioguard 3 part iron stuff work...

    SWG - No FC???

Well, one bottle of chlorine, test strips says 3-4ppm I’ll have a test kit later to double check. But .... it’s brown ... again. Ugh. any reason I can’t add more stain magnet? Or is there a permanent solution to get the iron out?

    SWG - No FC???

Thanks all. I added a gallon of chlorine to start and will check on it later. For stabilizer, is granular preferred? I see online that is fairly reasonable cost wise. The local store had this instant stabilizer in liquid form that was $40 for a gallon. I didn't buy it yet as it wasn't what...

    SWG - No FC???

Awesome. And thanks. I do test myself but with the strips. So to confirm, even with a SWG I need to test for and have proper levels of CYA? EDIT TO ADD: Forgot one factor. We have well water as I said, but I have been filing any evaporation using a spigot that is after the softener and...

    SWG - No FC???

Hello all, Thank you in advance for the help. I've been reading on here to get some information as a new pool owner, but I cannot figure out my issue. I purchased a home with a 16x32 inground vinyl pool with an auto cover. Pool company estimated it at 18,000 gallons. I had a company come...
