So to get back to this, I finally got to doing my OCLT after limping along with bleach supplements . Shut everything down at 10:30pm and tested at 7.0. Woke up at 6am and retested....7.0 again. Great for my piece of mind but not good as far as a cause, so it must be an equipment problem...

i haven't tested salt other than a test strip salt tester i bought. the SWG consistently reports between 3.6 and 3.7 - its supposed to be at 3.5. im pretty sure i have enough salt in there.

Do you have ANY chlorine in the pool? Seems about the right time frame for a cell to die - 3 years. On that specific setup, you have to tell us if it says its flowing and producing chlorine - OR if there are any errors...low/high salt, dead cell, low flow, etc. Should be pretty easy to tell...

the liquid bleach DOES contain salt. for every 141oz of 10% you add 10ppm salt to a pool your size. so you would have had to add 260 bottles of bleach in 2 years to get there. (obviously rough math). is that possible? once its there, the only way to get it out is to drain or have it splash...

you DO want to test chlorine - i do every other day to make sure its working properly. your pool is warmer and gets more sun than mine but we have almost the exact same equipment and size of pool.

you shouldnt have to add any. you have pretty much the same setup as me. maybe just toss some in before or after a big party. don't use the boost feature, just toss in some bleach and take it easy on your cell. just set the % so it maintains whatever level you need at whatever amount of time...

yeah, without the salt cell running, you have to jack the FC up to regular pool levels. you're too low even for a SWG pool anyway - if it were operational you could probably do a FC of 7. get that ph down for sure.
