What's cooking for Memorial Day weekend?

My brisket is pretty simple. I cover the brisket in mustard and then I completely cover with a brisket rub such as the one sold by TexasBBQ. I then put on a 250 deg smoker (with some apple and hickory chunks - I use the Weber Smoky Mountain). I smoke until it gets to 165 deg (set it on at...

    Salt Level Testing

Just a followup... My AquaPure is now reading 2900. I have not done anything since I last posted but cleaned out the de filter and replaced a bunch of lost water due to cleaning out of the de filter. I have not added any salt. Therefore, it seems that my water's temp (now 80 deg F) was a big...

    Salt Level Testing

I made it to the pool store on Sunday and their test came back at 3200 PPM (slightly higher than the cell is currently reading - 2800 PPM). I asked the tester and he said that they were using a drops based test. I am not sure which value is correct at this point. Thanks

    Salt Level Testing

At what temperature could I expect the strips and SGW readings to converge? I believe that my water temp at last check was 70 deg F.

    Salt Level Testing

I am trying to figure out if I have an issue with my salt sensor. My Jandy Aquapure is reading the salinity to be 2700 whereas the Aquacheck test strips indicate that my salt is around 3800. I cleaned the cell yesterday with the diluted MA and I did not see any fizzing that would indicate a...

    Polaris Replacement Parts

Does anybody have experiences with any online sites that sell replacement Polaris 280 parts? The tail hose got caught between the body and wheels and the hose got punctured. I am also planning to buy a few other parts as the bags seem to last about 6 months before a hole wears in it. Thanks.

    Jandy LX Heater Pressure Switch

I have a Jandy LX pool heater. I am getting a pressure switch light when I try to turn on the heater. I have cleared all of the skimmer baskets as well as the pump basket. I backflushed the DE filter about 3 weeks ago. Over the summer whenever there was a small amount of lawn clippings in...

    Natural Rock Sealant with SWCG

Are you sure the white substance on the rocks is not calcium? I have to routinely clean calcium deposits from my grout lines on my pool. It is usually just above the waterline where splashing occurs. I clean mine by mixing 50% muratic acid and 50% water (acid added to water). It foams and...

    Natural Rock Sealant with SWCG

I have a pool that has SWG and it is two years old. It has OK Wister flagstone and has no signs of decay. I have spoken to my pool builder (in the Woodlands, TX) and they have not reported any instances of decay and they build approx 50 pools per year. I do rinse my coping off daily (unless...

    Scale Problem

Dave - One other thing regarding my tests with the TF100. I checked my CYA again and it appears to be 80. However, I turned off my SWG this morning and the chlorine value dropped from 6.5 to 6 at 4:30pm (PH is now 7.0). The pool has been in full sun since 7:30am. There have been no swimmers...

    Scale Problem

OK, since it might take weeks at a PH of 6.8, I might look for another method to remove the scale. I believe that Jack's makes a product as does Bio Guard for scale removal. I would prefer to be able to add a dose or 2 and then scrub it up. If that is not possible, I may consider just getting...

    Scale Problem

Any ideas on how long I have to keep ph at 6.8 before some of the scale might brush off? Also, I could not locate an Allied Chemical scale removal kit. Any ideas where I might look? Thanks- Don

    Scale Problem

Skinnydipper - Your pool is amazing! As for the spots, I bought one of those brushes with the whale tail. Either the spots will come up or I will end up with Popeye arms. Thanks- Don

    Scale Problem

Yes, I have been adding acid daily trying to keep ph at 6.8 hoping that I could perhaps brush off some of the spots. I am not sure how to explain the difference in the calcium readings from the pool store and mine. I have been taking my water there for several months and maybe they have been...

    Scale Problem

Dave - Thanks for the reply. My pool will be 2 yrs old in October. I have spoken to my pool builder and he mentioned that acid washing could rough up the surface a bit. He is supposed to come take a look at the surface but is currently trying to play catchup on new builds that got backed up...
