I love coming back to look at your build thread and am so happy you gave us an update. Your property and pool are amazing! You should be very proud of what your hands can build.

How's it going for you? Are your arms sore from scooping out junk yet?

If you've scooped out as much junk as possible I don't think it will hurt to just wait for Thursday. Have you been able to start the pump and start circulating water?

Trust me you will see the bottom soon. I have been on mine for two weeks and it started VERY gross. It's not perfect yet, but I haven't been able to be as on top of it as I should. So if you are sticking with it yours will be clear in no time. Once I got all the leaves and junk out, it turned...

I think you will see a change soon. Mine was green/brown like that, although a smaller pool than yours, and after about 6 days I finally saw blue. the fact you are backwashing gross water means the filter is doing it's job. Just Keep it up!! You will see change! And make sure your filter is on 24/7.

Also - it was glued on! Had to pry it off with a flat head screw driver then used a huge wrench to take it off. Finally !!

FYI a 4 3/8" strap wrench is too small

I think I get it now... I need to go get a strap wrench. I finally understood this outer part is screwed onto another set of threads. I thought it was all one piece. Lost about a foot of water, :(

Ok so I am trying again to install, but can't understand what I'm unscrewing to connect the hoses. If I unscrew the big grid, an entire piece comes out and water goes everywhere. Is there a way you take just the strainer part off? And the rest of it stays in the pool? - - - Updated - - -...

If the panels are indeed 12 years old I'm guessing they are just wore out and need to be replaced. We're in south Florida so sun is brutal all year. I am curious to know how long they've been sitting like that unused. Also would like to know how much it costs to replace the panels? I think...

So we did find that the solar panels are approximately 12 years old from some paperwork, just a fax from the company that installed them with system info like an install kit? Maybe they were installed by homeowner? Pics to follow

yeah 2 hours is definitely plenty of time... If my pool is nice and clear and I am ready to jump in I will dose with chlorine after I get out. It's also good practice to test, dose, and then put on sunscreen and wait at least 15 minutes for that to dry on to your skin before jumping in :)

Wiz I have the 16x48 Intex pool and upgraded to an Intex Sand Filter 2650 gph - the 14 inch size - and it is amazing. Keeps my pool crystal clear and cost about $140. Fits perfectly with the unique intex parts so it was a no brainer for me. I bought it from Amazon but they have them at Walmart...

How's it going? Have you been vacuuming that gunk out of the bottom of the pool? Have you been properly Pool School - SLAM - Shock Level And Maintain SLAMing? Remember to keep FC at 12 as much as possible and brush brush brush!

Feel free to squeeze the socks to get that cya to dissolve quicker. It may take a couple of days for it to register on your test after its fully dissolved.

We don't recommend adding dichlor as it will add CYA - and stabilizer IS CYA so if you already added it via sock method the dichlor "shock" you purchased is adding more. If you added CYA to get to 30 ppm, go ahead and assume you've met your target and start your SLAM - target shock level is 12...
