    First SLAM

If you've scooped out as much junk as possible I don't think it will hurt to just wait for Thursday. Have you been able to start the pump and start circulating water?

Is it normal to still be green?

Trust me you will see the bottom soon. I have been on mine for two weeks and it started VERY gross. It's not perfect yet, but I haven't been able to be as on top of it as I should. So if you are sticking with it yours will be clear in no time. Once I got all the leaves and junk out, it turned...

Is it normal to still be green?

I think you will see a change soon. Mine was green/brown like that, although a smaller pool than yours, and after about 6 days I finally saw blue. the fact you are backwashing gross water means the filter is doing it's job. Just Keep it up!! You will see change! And make sure your filter is on 24/7.

I got the Intex Automatic Pool Cleaner

Also - it was glued on! Had to pry it off with a flat head screw driver then used a huge wrench to take it off. Finally !!

I got the Intex Automatic Pool Cleaner

I think I get it now... I need to go get a strap wrench. I finally understood this outer part is screwed onto another set of threads. I thought it was all one piece. Lost about a foot of water, :(

I got the Intex Automatic Pool Cleaner

Ok so I am trying again to install, but can't understand what I'm unscrewing to connect the hoses. If I unscrew the big grid, an entire piece comes out and water goes everywhere. Is there a way you take just the strainer part off? And the rest of it stays in the pool? - - - Updated - - -...

Helping a friend with her solar panels

Hi guys I want to thank you all for taking the time to look at the pics and offer your information and suggestions. Our main goal was to just gain more knowledge on the solar heating system so that when they pursue this they will be armed with information.

Helping a friend with her solar panels

If the panels are indeed 12 years old I'm guessing they are just wore out and need to be replaced. We're in south Florida so sun is brutal all year. I am curious to know how long they've been sitting like that unused. Also would like to know how much it costs to replace the panels? I think...

Don't mind the toes! Lol Power connections? "I have a pool service they take care of everything" so why haven't they cleaned your cartridge? Timer I think they should call these people, they're probably the installers? Pics of panels ... I think the glass one is for a solar hot...

Helping a friend with her solar panels

So we did find that the solar panels are approximately 12 years old from some paperwork, just a fax from the company that installed them with system info like an install kit? Maybe they were installed by homeowner? Pics to follow

Helping a friend with her solar panels

The spa spills over into pool, I'll take some pics. Definitely want to tell them about TFP but I have to tread lightly as hubby knows everything already so it will be strange that I tell him something new. LOL. They have an inline chlorinator full of pucks right now. I'll wait till they're out...

Helping a friend with her solar panels

They were definitely capped when inspection was done as homeowners haven't done anything with the pool equipment. The inspector is coming back out to look at it and was quite shocked that he had missed that. I'm not sure what my friend and her husband can do about this situation since we are...

Helping a friend with her solar panels

My best friend and her husband just bought a new home with an in ground pool and solar panels for heating. During the home inspection the inspector marked everything in good working order and they purchased the home. Fast forward 3 weeks and I come over for a swim. I ask about the solar heating...

How long after adding liquid chlorine ( maintenance mode) should you wait b4 swimming

yeah 2 hours is definitely plenty of time... If my pool is nice and clear and I am ready to jump in I will dose with chlorine after I get out. It's also good practice to test, dose, and then put on sunscreen and wait at least 15 minutes for that to dry on to your skin before jumping in :)

    Could use some help

Yes that is exactly right. Keep on it and make sure you brush your pool too. Check the percentage of bleach you are using, and make sure you put that percentage in Pool Math so that it gives you an accurate dosage. Most "concentrated" laundry bleach is 8.25%. Regular is 6.25. If you are buying...

    Is this 'dirt' algae?

I'm thinking the same, maybe your pH testing reagents are expired. Can you pick up a new reagent so you can try the test again? Or take it to the pool store so they can test pH? It's a little worrisome that you have added so much acid and it stays the same shade of pink. Also, are you doing the...

I'm back - SLAM 2.0 2016 Version - Need more patience or am I doing something wrong?

Wiz I have the 16x48 Intex pool and upgraded to an Intex Sand Filter 2650 gph - the 14 inch size - and it is amazing. Keeps my pool crystal clear and cost about $140. Fits perfectly with the unique intex parts so it was a no brainer for me. I bought it from Amazon but they have them at Walmart...

New Pool Owner - Green Swamp

We don't recommend adding dichlor as it will add CYA - and stabilizer IS CYA so if you already added it via sock method the dichlor "shock" you purchased is adding more. If you added CYA to get to 30 ppm, go ahead and assume you've met your target and start your SLAM - target shock level is 12...
