New Hampshire Dad...Seeks New Hampshire Pool Pro :-)

Wheres the leak at? Anytime I had a leak under my pump, it was due to the ceramic seal. Its a quick fix. I wasn't comfortable taking apart the motor at first either, but once you do it once its a piece of cake!

Is this dead algae? Not filtering out. What 2 do? PICS

Depending on what your replacing, redoing the piping isnt too bad. I just had my first experience doing that a few weeks ago - though I all I needed to do was replace a ball valve. I spent more time worrying about it then it actually took to do!

Is this dead algae? Not filtering out. What 2 do? PICS

Air leaks in my pump basket were always caused by a worn gasket. Can you see the air getting in at the top of the basket?

    Adding Alkalinity Increaser through Skimmer

Thanks for the advice! I didn't think of pre-dissolving and pouring in fron tof the return jets. That works for me!

    DE filter, pressure dropping

I'm curious to hear what you find out. This just happened to me as well. Pressure was always 15 since last year and this season. I bumped it and it started running at around 12. I also noticed de in the pool. Just took apart the filter and acid washed the fingers. Was expecting to find holes...

    Adding Alkalinity Increaser through Skimmer

Hi, I was told that I could add Alkalinity and PH increaser through the skimmer. Is this correct? I run my filter 24/7 and I dont have a heater attached. Thanks.

Anyone using Pool Blaster Vacuum's? Opinions?

Hi, I have the Pool Blaster Max (the blue one). Love it. Got it through ebay and Amazon (had one for a few years and the battery went...bought a second one as soon as it went!) for a pretty good deal. For when my pool is really dirty, I still take out the vacuum and hose, but for quick...

Removing Hayward Offline Chlorinator - plugging holes

Great! Thanks for the suggestions! I had tried running one tube between the two holes (though without the loop). That worked out alright but I wasn't sure if it was also causing DE leak into the pool. Thanks again!

Removing Hayward Offline Chlorinator - plugging holes

Hi, I have a hayward offline chlorinator hooked up which I havent used for 2 years. The only reason I even have it hooked up is because of the two holes I had to drill in my pvc piping to install it. Does anyone know what I can use to cap these holes off so I dont have to hook it up anymore...

    Solar Blanket

I think the solar cover helps to retain the heat. It will prevent heat loss that you would get from water evaporation. (I think thats what I read somewhere - I dont claim to be smart though!) We dont have a heater anymore, but our pool has gotten pretty warm some seasons just with the solar...

Can't Remove Elbow Assembly/ Check Valve

I just have a ball valve on the drain outlet at the bottom of the filter. No multiport or anything like that.

Can't Remove Elbow Assembly/ Check Valve

Ok, I'll try that. Am I correct though that the check valve is in that part? I'm just going by the part diagram fro the manual. Also, If I cant get the part out, is it alright to just leave it be. The reason I wanted to remove it is because sometimes when I backwash the filter DE is coming up...

    Solar Blanket

Hi, I leave mine on all the time whenever we're not using the pool. We dont have a heater so we use the solar cover to keep the heat in. If the pool is too warm, I'll take the cover off but for the most part I leave it on all the time. Also, make sure you leave it off after you shock your...

Can't Remove Elbow Assembly/ Check Valve

Hi, I have a hayward EC65 and I'm trying to get to the check valve inside the filter. I'm guessing that I need to remove the elbow assembly, but it's stuck in there pretty good. Any ideas on how to take it out? I don't want break anything. I attached a photo of the part I'm referring to. If...

Possible causes for DE leaking into pool

Hi, So I got my Hayward ec65 taking apart looking for what could be causing de leaking into the pool. Didn't see any tears in the fingers and everything looked good. What else could have caused the leak? Could the gasket have gotten unseated? Thanks in advance!

    Reassembling Hayward EC65

One more question. Is it necessary to acid wash it if I did it two years ago or will a good rinsing be sufficient?

    Reassembling Hayward EC65

Hey all, Planning on taking apart the filter to check and clean. Been noticing some DE accumulating on the pool floor around the return jets and the pressure is running a little lower than normal. Took it apart two years ago to clean and acid wash and I had a heck of a time putting the cover...

DE Filter Pressure Lower than normal after bumping

Thanks for the replies. The pressure slowly creeped back up to around 15 when I checked it this evening and looked like it was still slowly rising. I ended up backwashing and putting in new de and now it is running at 12 again. The only time it's ever run at 12 has been after I cleaned the...

DE Filter Pressure Lower than normal after bumping

Hi, Just a quick question - Usually my filter runs at 15psi. Its been steady at 15 for a few weeks (filter is always running 24/7) and I havent had to bump the filter since I got the pool opened and cleaned (it was a big green swamp!). We've had a couple heavy rains and I've drained the pool a...

    Water Level and Skimmer

Hi, Sorry for the silly question, but just wanted to ask if it's alright to run the pool filter if the water level reaches above the top of the skimmer. We had some heavy rains the past two days and the water level is higher than I normally keep it. When I went to drain the pool the T handle...

Hayward 2 hp super pump SUPER LOUD!!!!!!

Hi, Same thing happened to my motor a few years ago. Instead of getting the bearings replaced, I ended up buying an A.O. Smith OEM pump, which was the same pump without the Hayward name on it. It was much cheaper (I think I paid around $150 - cant quite remember though, i dont think my motor...

    Pressure Gauge Replacement

Hi Everyone, When my filter is off, the pressure gauge only goes back down to around 2, not 0. When the filter is on, the gauge seems to be working fine and reads 15-16 (Just opened the pool and its gotten to 18 but bumping brings it right back down to 15). Should I replace it? Wasn't sure if...
