    Ring around the pool

You can use the baking soda and water paste or a Mr. Clean Eraser. I haven't use the baking soda paste, but it was suggested by a reputable person, so I am sure it works. I have used the Mr. Clean Eraser and had good results with it.

    Switching to BBB from Bacquacil

$3/gallon is a pretty good price. That would be equivalent to getting a gallon of bleach for $1.50. Most times I can only get the 96oz bleach on sale for $1.50. I'm not sure how bleach is priced in your area. It could be 10. If it is 10, you could get away with doing a 2:1 dilution through...

    Switching to BBB from Bacquacil

Ok, well if your FC level is 0, you would add both gallons of the 10% CL and 2/3 gallons of the 6% to get you up to 15. You are going to need a lot more bleach to keep your CL levels up until you can change the filter media. How much did you pay for the 10% CL? How high does your current test...

You said you have 2 gallons of shock. Are you talking about liquid "shock"/chlorine? If so, what strength is it, 10% or 12.5%?

    Switching to BBB from Bacquacil

Hello and welcome to TFP! Congrats on the decision to BBB. Before we get started, we need a bit more information. First thing is how many gallons your pool is. That will let you know how much CL, stabilizer, etc. you need when using the pool calculator found here. It would help if you added...

    strange pool situation_pool company baffled

You should also test your nitrates and CL in your tap water. Some tap water has nitrates in it also. You can purchase a drop based test for nitrates at a pet store in the fish section. I use the API kit. It's the best, in my opinion. You also want to test your tap water in the winter and...

Telescopic Pole - where to get a decent one ?

    Another algae vs pollen/dust problem...

I don't have a sand filter, but I have seen it suggested that adding a bit of DE to the sand helps with filtering fine particles. It would have to be added again after each backwash, though. Can anyone else chime in on that?

    Intex Pool Setup Done!!!!!

That's a great set up. You did a fantastic job. The only suggestion I have is to put a mat under your ladder so you don't damage the liner getting in and out.

In desperate need of help please.

You don't need to be in the pool. You just need 2 people and a 25ft tape measure. One person grabs the end and the other person just swings around to the other side letting the tape measure out as you go. When you get to the other side, you have your measurement. You can also try looking at...

    cya too high

You can rent a pump, but do not drain half of the pool at one time. Try doing 25% and then testing your CYA. FPM is right. Your CYA is probably over 100. For a CYA of 100, you need to add 6 1/8 gallons of 6% bleach to get up to FC 14. How much bleach have you been adding daily?

    Wrinkles

Thanks, waste. I'm going to throw the glowbuoy in tomorrow night and take some pictures. (gotta vacuum first) The craters show up real good with that thing in.... :grrrr: I'm going to start a new thread since I unintentionally hijacked this one....lol.

    cya too high

Welcome to TFP! Unfortunately, the only way to lower the CYA is by draining and refilling. You will need to replace 50% of your water, however, do not do it all at one time. You run the risk of floating the pool and/or getting wrinkles in you liner. Continue to do partial drains and refills...

    Wrinkles

Believe it. It was clearly written on the receipt. At the time, right after they left, it wasn't a problem because there weren't any. If I knew then what I know now........ It took 3 days to fill the pool. When it was done filling, that's when all the wrinkles and craters appeared. DH said...

    Aqua Broom Vacuum

I think you would be better off with the Catfish. It is a little bigger than the broom. It is made by the same company. I bought mine last year for $100 at BJ's. I have seen it online also. The battery charge lasts for aboutn 30 minutes. I moved up to the poolbuster (same company) because...

Actually your TA is within an acceptable range, so there really isn't a need to raise it. I would suggest posting your pool stats before adding anything other than the CL.

    HELP!! Numbers way off

You have quite a few levels that are out of whack. You can find all the information you need in the Pool School articles. 1. Your CYA is too low. You are running a SWG and your CYA should be between 60-90. Check the guidelines for your manufacturer and make the adjustment. You can use the...

    Wrinkles

Re: Re: Not for wrinkles. However, I did think about calling them about the uneven bottom. My biggest problem is the drain and refill that would be needed. I really don't have anywhere to drain that much water at one time and I take a hit on my sewer bill for the refill. Any suggestions?

    new guy

Ouch, that is high, but I guess in the grand scheme of things, it is a small expense compared to what you've already spent for the pool.
