My BC_2_CC BaquaCrud to Chlorine Conversion

Ok, using the pool calculator, your initial dose of bleach should have been (8) 96oz bottles of bleach. That would increase your FC to 15. After the initial dose, you should test your CL levels as often as possible and add enough bleach to bring your FC level back up to 15. You would use the...

My BC_2_CC BaquaCrud to Chlorine Conversion

I'm adding the info I received in PM so everyone has it: I started my conversion 4 days ago. (Sunday) Prior to that on Thursday and then again on Friday I used a total of 4 bottles of Oxidizer. Needless to say my test strip was a dark blue. Day 1 Sunday I used 4 96oz bottles 4 x's = 1536oz =...

My BC_2_CC BaquaCrud to Chlorine Conversion

Hi and Welcome to TFP! As far as your numbers are concerned, they seem a bit high, but we cannot really determine if they are right or not, because we don't know what you have done. If you could post what actions you have taken after each test result and the approximate time you did the tests...

    Concerns about PoolSkim

You may need to backwash your filter. I noticed when mine is dirty, my poolskim bubbles. There shouldn't be any bubbles. It should look like a vortex.

    Poolskim questions

I have a 1 HP pump with one return and the poolskim. It handles the flow ok. You definitely want the stronger flow to help the poolskim pull the debris and to keep the water circulating. Sometimes the poolskim connection will get a little loose, but I just tighten it back up and it's fine.

    PVC - Better than flexible?

Ok, I have some pics. It may look unorthodox, but it works and everything is leak free. I am going to try a modification using larger tubing to see if I can increase the flow. Hope that helps.

LQ 3/8 line conversion (How to increase flow)

Ok, thanks for the info. I don't know anything about plumbing, so I am just trying to learn as much as I can. I'm sure I'll understand it better once I get the parts.

    PVC - Better than flexible?

I actually have the liquidator installed on my pool with flexible hoses, clear braided pvc hose, regulare schedule 40 pvc and some couplers. I will take a picture of it and post it later this evening.

LQ 3/8 line conversion (How to increase flow)

Hi Rabbit, I am getting ready to do this mod and I have a couple of questions. Figured I would reply here instead of starting a new thread in case anyone else had the same questions. I am wondering why the check valve is 1/4" if the tubing is being changed to 3/8"? Also, what is the purpose...

Pool company fired me. Time to learn to do on my own.

Hi! Welcome to the forum. It looks as though the pool company already knew your CYA was too high because they had your FC level up to 13, so they were already compensating for it. That is probably the reason they didn't balk at the request to pay for the water for the drains and refills.

    Ordered a Poolskim

It was for this exact reason I bought mine. I have a lot of maple trees and the amount of leaves and copters they drop is ridiculous. The pool skim works great on these! I love it.

    Fill poool from fire hydrant

When I needed my pool filled last year, my water company suggested they could arrange a fill from a fire hydrant. I didnt' follow up on it because I thought it might be too expensive, so I used my hose. Probably should have done it since I am paying for it now through the water bill and sewer...

Hi! Welcome to TFP! It would help if you told us why you are draining it. If we don't know the problem, we can't offer correct advice.

Best month to open my pool

I bought a poolskim and it was the best thing I ever did. I get bombarded with the helicopters all summer. It sucks them right up. I rarely have to skim. ETA: Last year I was open in early April because I had to get a new liner. I bought the poolskim in May, I believe. It makes a HUGE...

Our backyard pics- Before and After

Thanks. I have found that it is difficult to get all the gunk out of the rocks. We have a lot of maple trees and they drop those helicopters all summer.

    Foreclosure...good or bad?

It also looks as though the pool was a baquacil pool at one point. The filter media may need to be changed also.

New invention to keep our pools clean

You could try the poolskim. It attaches to the return. I have one and it works great. I have a lot of maple trees, so there is always something falling in the pool. I hardly ever had to skim. Here's the link to the website: http://www.poolskimusa.com/

Pump is broken...what to do about pool

You should continue to add bleach daily to maintain your FC. Just brush the pool when adding it to stir the water and get the bleach mixed in. If you can brush twice a day, that would be the best thing to do until the pump can be fixed.

    Switching to BBB from Bacquacil

Re: Switching to BBB from Bacq Ok. It is going to be too difficult to try and test for 15 with the test you have. The FC needs to be at 15 and the test you have tests for TC , which is a combination of FC+CC. Wal-mart has a drop based kit that you can get for about $15-$20. You could pick...
