    Testing high chlorine levels

Using the TF-100 kit w/ R-870/R-871 components. I balanced the pH and shocked the living daylights out of the pool with liquid chlorine. Went to test FC. Put scoop of R870 into 10ml water with speedstir, turns clear right away. A second scoop it stays pink. Then 70 drops of R871 tells me I...

A Case for Not Wanting Blue in our Pools!

I have the same issues with over the counter meds that have all manner of extra, unneeded stuff in them when one only needs one or two of the ingredients. Same thing with kitchen "spices." What a freaking travesty. I can make any manner of "specialty" cooking preparations with about a dozen...

    TA or CH for SWG?

I've been using the methods outlined on this site to bring my TA down from around 160++ to 80! It took a pool full of 32% HCL to do it, but I'm on a roll here. ASIDE: Home Depot has some awesome "water features" that are excellent for aerating pool water, less thatn $15 delivered to your...

Awesome! That's it. Sorry I missed your response earlier. I wondered what the plumbing in the bottom of the skimmer was.

Difficulty with CH test with TFP kit

That's a good video, thanks. I had been using the technique outlined in TFPs instructions, which were not so radical.

Difficulty with CH test with TFP kit

My CH is pretty high according to Leslie's... 650 or so. My unsoftened tap water from the well CH is 275, softened is 241 (mebe need to add some salt to the softener?) So I use the "economy" method of testing with a 10 ml sample. I get NOTHING when I go the conventional route, so I use the...

    TA Test with TFP kit

I go to Leslie's and they find 160 TA in my sample. I test it myself... the water just begins to turn from (blue?) to maybe red at 17 drops, full red as it gets at 19. Adding more R009 won't change the color after 19 drops. So is my measured TA 170 or 190???? tanks

    California Pools Led failed

I've got those silly little multi-color-changing LEDs in my 2+ year old California Pool. One of them (recently) does not work at all, which leads me to think it might be a connection at the controller panel? (Not my choice, nope. I'd rather have a single old fashioned FLOOD that I can SEE...

    SWG Current

Typo. Sorry din't catch it earlier! Feexed eet. Still, if the unit notes 5 amps max and the panel is showing 7, is that a good thing?

    TriStar variable speed won't prime

Jes. I opened the strainer lid, rotated it CW 1/4 turn from where it had been while still airborne, re-closed, and it stopped leaking. Kind of silly, eh?

    SWG Current

Nope. Voltage fine. It is showing north of 25 volts and 7 amps, both. Panel says 2900 ppm salt.

    SWG Current

My Hayward cell notes 25 volts and 5 amps max. My panel is it is drawing +/-7.25 amps. What's this?

    TriStar variable speed won't prime

Thanks to you all. I simply opened the strainer rotated the closure1/4 turn clockwise and reinstalled. It now works fine. Go figure.

    TriStar variable speed won't prime

Thanks to you all. Even when I just put it on hopper drain, or just the skimmer (which has less lift than does the hopper drain)... nothing seems to work. I'm with 'yall. It HAS TO BE a leak at the pump basket. mac

    TriStar variable speed won't prime

Pool less than three years old. When I moved in last Dec, I had a heck of a time priming the main pump. Replaced the filter basked O ring and all was well, it would self prime. Today I opened the basket to clean it. O ring has no debris on it; interface for O ring has no debris. Empty...

Got Solid Calcium in a Salt Water Pool????

My chlorine generator just stopped working again after a ~3 month service interval. It was clearly compromised. I soaked it 4:1 water:HCL FOUR different times over a 24 hour period, and the bubbling was always very active at the addition of a new solution. After the FOURTH soak, 24 hrs later...

    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

Thanks for all of your common sense suggestions? Duh.me. Some kind of actuator shows up in the control panel! What could that be? I don't see anything that appears to be? I expect it is just a computer feature that isn't used. I do have a water feature on a 2HP separate pump. That's...

    What's This? "California Pool"

I just bought a home with a two year old pool, which apparently was installed by "California Pools." This orifice/cover is on the second step down when entering the pool. Is it suction? Is it return? Water is too cold to wade into! tanks mac

    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

THANKS TO all of you, and 'YALL NAILED IT! The Professional Pool Fool who came out on my homeowner purchase warranty IN December told me (for $65) the cell was in warranty, but not cared for. When Hayward denied warranty due to lack of care, and the homeowner warranty did same, Pro Pool Fool...
