How much wattage per hr does a Hayward Super 2 pump use?

All the following reading where taken with a clamp amp meter. I had a single speed 1.5 hp pump that drew 18.6 amps. I replaced it with the EcoStar about 2 weeks ago. Running the the Ecostar at 2500 rpm gives close to the old pump flow ( I can tell by the pressure at a fountain) it draws 6...

old pump and estimation of the turnover time

Since intake is 1.5 inch that’s going to be the max you will be able to flow. Most agree that 44 gallons minute is about the max you will get though that. So in theory all things perfect you would need at least 11 hours for your pool for one turn over. In reality I would think 14 or more...

    Clear Solar Blanket

Biggest problem is with the clear covers your skimmer will fill up with the clear bubble parts and you can't see them in the skimmer, I've had times I looked in the skimmer and couldn't see a thing. Pulled basket out and its full of bubble pieces.

    Clear Solar Blanket

All on the water side, you will see little dots floating in the water after taking the cover off (the tops of the bubbles).

    Clear Solar Blanket

I've had a couple of clear covers and they seem to become brittle and delaminate quicker than the blue. Not sure if its the sun burning off the chlorine under the cover and the end result is the cover deteriates.

    Pristine Blue

First you need a good test kit so you will know how much chlorine to add. I'm no longer a fan of the tablets. Had to dump almost half my pool to get my CYA down. Now I add about a quart of chlorine a day and my water looks better than ever. Knowing what's in your pool before you add is cruical...

Clear Diamond Shaped Solar cover with reel

Keep the reel most of the clear covers I've had start to delaminate in about 2 years or so. So you can use it on your next cover.

Clear Diamond Shaped Solar cover with reel

I had a clear diamond cover. It worked fine, it is just very heavy rolled up because of the way water is trapped in cover. Some reels cannot handle the extra weight.

Clear Diamond Shaped Solar cover with reel

If I remember correctly one of the issues with the diamond covers was the weight because of the way they retain water when they are rolled up.

    Pool Draining

I did the pump from Home Depot it moves about 3000 gallons a hour if your run is not to long. So just the 4 hour rate should get it done. Unless you have a huge pool.

how much does it cost to refill the pool

If your CYA gets to high by using pucks and you get a algae bloom there go any savings in time or money. It’s really not that hard once you get your pool balanced to just kick to puck habit. The key is to get a good test kit to know when it is balanced.

Have to agree, I'm putting less junk in my pool and it looks better than ever. It’s amazing what you can achieve using a good test kit and the folks on here. I have the TF 100 with the speed stir. You can't go wrong with good numbers.

Sounds like you may have found the junction box were the light wires comes out of the pool. My pool light switch is in the house on the wall with 4 other outdoor light switchs. So switch may not be outdoors.

Would like to add new return line to gunite IG spa

Another work around would be to leave one of the eyes loose enough so you can just reach in and take one out. This will reduce back pressure and keep the venturi effect from happening. Just screw it back in when you get in.

    Tile/Wall Repair

Because the pool and the deck sometimes develop cracks between them I have use some white silicone to fill the crack and remount the tile and use the silicone to fill the grout space also. This is what I have done and it’s held up for a few years so far.

    Hayward Tiger Shark Experience

I’ve had the Tiger Shark QC for almost 4 years. Soon after I got it I had to put the flow restrictor washer in the top because it was climbing to far out the water on the walls. It cleans all the seating areas and all but the top step (it would have to come to far out of the water for that...

Plumbing pool are 90 degree angles allowed?

The only sch 40 sweeps 90’s that I’ve found are the ones for waste. They have a smaller glue area and a max operating pressure of about 25 psi (temps about 70 degrees F. would lower the operating pressure). So I would think they should only be used on the suction side.

    Remote temp sensor

I have one that I got at Home Depot almost a year ago. Works great still has the original batteries. Not sure if the northern stores carry as much pool stuff as the stores down here (Florida). Think it was about $30.

    Suction manifold redo

Getting ready to redo the suction manifold, all the piping is 1.5 inch. I’m going to increase the manifold piping and piping to the pump to 2 inch. My thinking on this is more efficient flow. Will be replacing the ball valves also but will be using the same size ( 1.5 inch). Anyone know...
