Need Advice: Filter guage pegged or broke but freezing temps

Re: Need Advice: Filter guage pegged or broke but freezing t I am by no means a pro, but I would think that the gauge is just crapped out. Hard to get that kind of pressure with a pool pump. Kind of "what does the pool look like" thing. Water is moving and that is the most important. About...

Single Hole Skimmer but No Bottom Drain Valve

A pipe would extend from the drain with a valve somewhere between the drain and a low point/ditch in the adjacent area. May be in a small capped drain valve box or even at the line.. Are you lines PVC or metal. If metal, then someone with a metal detector may be able to loctate the line in...

Single Hole Skimmer but No Bottom Drain Valve

Hmmm.... Can you block the skimmer hole with something like a tennis ball? If the drain and skimmer are connected, that should direct all suction to the drain and at least let you know that part. Is there anywhere that the drain might be connected to a valve below grade and can only be...

    Pool Light GFCI tripping

You are one the right track. That single screw (should be Philips) is what holds it in place. The bottom is held in with a tab coming off the light ring. Just a good fitting screwdriver and maybe a "tap" on the handle (like you are driving it in) gently may just be enough to break it loose...

    Pool Light GFCI tripping

I had the same problem, same light. Hayward even replaced my light under "one-time customer service" that really made me happy! Guess what....was the wiring all along. I had even cleaned and re-wire nut my connection, but I came down to me not really have them clean enough. Replace my...

Not familiar with them either. Biggest hurdle I had to get in my mind was less is better when it comes to added chems in pool. If ya like, just keep em longer and let then gold unless someone here can think of any good use. Good Luck !! Sami

Pool Depth Design - Feedback Requested!

My 16 x 33 goes from 3 to 6 max. Difference is that I have greacian corner and benches in the deep end corner. not easy to walk up, but easy to navigate Flat side down to bottow would make IMHO a bit of a cleaning issue. Smooth slopes transitions seem to work best for me. Hope that helps! Sami

    Leaves

Ah....a perfect case of not being prepared!! As "FALL" of the year can be predicted on every calendar, ya just gotta be ready on September 20-21 every year. I usually go up the the local K-Mart and hire a few Wino's. Have them wait under the trees and have them catch the leaves as they fall...

    Leaving open for Winter....Polyquat?

What is the "general" thought on use of Polyquat60 when leaving a pool open for the winter vs. closing? Thanks in advance!! Sami

Help with "shrinking" a filter. Please help

My thought is that with a smaller element, you would get higher pressure and then create more "blow threw". Lower pressure and higher volumn is my understanding of getting the most bang for the buck. Smaller filter would restrict flown and hense not flow as much water. Just my basic...

    Polaris 280 vs Hayward Tigershark

I can only speak for the TigerShark as I've had mine for 5 years. Does a very good job and does scrub the waterline very well. Mine in used in a vinyl pool. Lifting in and out is not really an issue. Just put it in, start it and then come back when it's done and wash out the filters. No...

Help with "shrinking" a filter. Please help

Question....what are your pressure readings on clean and then "dirty" filter? Are you able to bleed off the air when starting the pump?

    Close or leave open....

Leebo..Very mild here in Charlotte NC. H20 temp approx. 80..now. I really don't know how anyone in this area could keep from going to a green pool. My question was more of HOW to keep it open. Thanks!!

    Close or leave open....

OK pros, help me with my decision!! 5 years under my belt now, 2nd year on BBB and couldn't be happier! Here's the issue. We look down on our pool from about 15 feet above pool level. Looks great in the open season...looks horrible when closed for the off season. Plus, the thing is horrible...

    Replacement for Monarch Eco-Matic ESC24

    Replacement for Monarch Eco-Matic ESC24

Yep..cell only. Would probally still be using the original if I hadn't tried to push it too hard before finding TFP. Now that I have my water balanced, just easy to keep the FC dialed in where I want it. Hope that answers your question. Please feel free to ask if you like. THANKS! Sami

    Replacement for Monarch Eco-Matic ESC24

My cell was $300+ from what I can remember. I really like the ease of using the SWG and I only add what I want in the pool such as CYA. A personal choice, but there is a cost factor. Let me now how you come out!! Sami

    Replacement for Monarch Eco-Matic ESC24

I'm on my 6th year with the Monarch 36. Did have to replace the cell two years ago, but have found it to be trouble-free and way exceeds my needs. Reverse threads did take some getting use too, but no real problems. Kept the terminals from "crud" building up with just a little WD-40 yearly...

    Lost pressure

Here's another idea. The grass "may" have gotten by the pump basket and gotten wound around the impeller of the pump. Kill all power to the pump then remove the pump strainer. Reach in with your fingers and feel if there is anything around the impeller. If so, just keep pulling it out and...
