I got that Plastic Gate Valve you wanted. I also took a pic of a pump impeller since I had a pump apart. Adam

    Loud Pump

I called every motor shop an pool shop in the phone book. All motor shops were closed. Most pool places said to find a motor shop to do bearings. Finally, I got one pool guy that gave me a motor shop to take the pump too. He said that's where he would take it himself. Long story short, either...

HELP -- POOL HAS BEEN GREEN-- AND SLIMY FOR MONTHS AND MONTH

Any chance getting a new filter is in the budget? Does the filter use a multiport valve or a slide valve(See Visual Encyclopedia)? Can you snap a few pics of the equipment? BTW, the green "Cottage Cheese" type stuff is the old, dirty DE mixed with algae at the bottom(assuming you have a DE...

Adding Solar Bear Panels to our AGP- The process with pics

Man, it stinks that you are having all of these problems. Have you called Fafco and asked about the heat deformation issues on the elbows? Also, are you using their roof mounting kit? If you are, then I'd call and complain about that too. Luckily, my solar on the roof was relatively problem...

    Dual Filters

We have are currently running a 1 HP Hayward Power-Flo LX pump and 100# Jacuzzi sand filter. I have the option to buy another Jacuzzi 100# Sand filter at a low price(used)(exact same model as the one I have now). I know that the bigger the filter the better(to a point) and I'm pretty sure this...

New to me Hayward 210 sandfilter. Pressure and performance?

Does the gauge drop to zero when you shut the pump off? If not, there's a good chance the gauge is bad. Even if it does go to zero, it might be worth replacing with a new gauge. They are pretty cheap and if they do give the same reading, store away the new one until the old one breaks. They...

Pool filter not filtering when adding CYA

Re: Pool filter no filtering when adding CYA Don't want to sound insulting, just being sure. When it said pool sand, did it also say #20 silica sand? The sand should be white. Just being sure you didn't accidentally put sand meant for leveling or going under a pool in the filter. If it is the...

    Loud Pump

The saga of opening continues... Put two holes in the bottom of the pool getting it out of the garage. Patched from the bottom and they seem to be holding. No noticeable water loss. Releveled ground under HOTT sun and 92* temps. Expanded deep end of pool to encompass whole pool minus one foot...

Plumber and I are arguing. Need quick answer

I hear you there! When I was in Lowes getting fittings for my project I was going to use the ball valves with red handles, but when I couldn't turn them in the store I figured that was no good. Then I turned a Union Valve and my decision was made. The reason(or part of it) that they turn so...

    Intex pump PROBLEM~NEED HELP!!!

Another option is to buy a skimmer for a regular Above Ground pool and put that on in place of the filter you have. It should fit in the hole already there(or be close anyway) and it will have an attachment for a regular hose. Good Luck, Adam

    What's your current pool temp?

Well, this oughta make EVERYONE jealous... Our pool is a toasty 68! 8) LOL We just finished filling today though... :whoot: Adam

    trying to diagnose filter problem.

Could you snap a pic and post it? That leak is probably what is causing the lose of flow. It's probably sucking in air there. This might be a simple fix or the housing might be cracked and you may need a new pump. :( Adam

    trying to diagnose filter problem.

You may have just nailed the problem. :goodjob: If the hose has a leak it will suck air when the pump is running and cause the loss of performance you speak of. Do you see lots of bubbles in the pump strainer basket when it's running? Adam

Re: Fitting and gluing Flex PVC

Re: Fitting and gluing Flex PVC This is very true and I know it all to well. Believe it or not, I actually have unglued fittings in my pool plumbing. The very first bit of PVC work I did on the pool was a diverter for the(at the time) single 2x20 solar panel. I bought the wrong glue...

I think that is more what he was looking for, because in pictures like that, it's easy to crop just one piece of equipment without having other(obvious) things in the background). Adam

Re: Fitting and gluing Flex PVC

Re: Fitting and gluing Flex PVC Wait, what? Are you talking when dry fitting or actually gluing? EVERY joint I've glued has gone into the fitting until it bottoms out once primer and glue are applied. When dry fitting though, you are correct, most times they only go in about half way. HTH, Adam

Help me improve my heater plumbing

I would get rid of the flex between the heater(output?) and the SWG. You could (from the looks of the picture) make it work with two 45's or two 90's. The other, shorter piece of flex looks fine but you could also replace that with a 90 or 2 45's. Then again, maybe I misread your post and that...

Planning piping and questions. Now with Pics!

I would use the "Simple" setup you posted. I don't see the point of having the extra stuff shown in the "Complex" one. The extra tees and valves seem redundant to me. I have a similar setup to yours and mine is the way you Simple one is. I can do everything I've needed to. P.S. Are you going...

    Pump Basket Cleaning Question

They make rubber plugs that you can put in the hole in the bottom of the skimmer to stop the water. Another way(if you needed to do it on short notice) would be to stick one end of the vacuum hose in that hole(assuming it fits snugly) and leave the other end out of the water. Or you could just...

    Air Button Help

Have to add to that last post. So, even the shorter run didn't get the buttons to work. That was using the black poly. So, I figured, what the heck, and connected all of the short pieces of clear tubing that came with the pumps together(which came out about 3ft shorter then the black poly going...

    Air Button Help

I tried 3 different types of air buttons. The ones that are attached to the temp. control(for spa pack) the one that came with the tub jet pump, and another one that came with the hot tub. They all click the switches at with short runs(5 ft). I thought tubing stretch might be an issue so I...

    Air Button Help

Some of you may have seen my Spa build thread, most probably haven't, but quick summary... Today I tested...

    Newbie with Sand Filter Question

No, the flow probably wouldn't have stopped. This is assuming your equipment is below the waterline of the pool. If you have valves before and after the equipment, you'll want to close those when you work on it. If you don't get some plugs(or anything that will seal the inlet and return) and put...

    New Toys For 2009

Saw that on AFV the other day... Did you submit the clip? Keep in mind, cobra has an IG pool so no sides to collapse, just concrete to hit. Just messin' though, cobra. I'd be out there doin' it if we had a tramp. too. Adam

Adding Solar Bear Panels to our AGP- The process with pics

I've done that before too. 60% coverage on my pool though. Hmm, something doesn't sound right here. I get like 1 degree F. and hour when I have full sun. Seems like I should be getting more. Hmmm. I accidently let our pool hit 97 last summer one day. :hammer: It was like 95* outside that day...

    Pump and Filter cover?

Originally, I was just figuring on lifting the whole thing up to move it, but quickly realized it would be too heavy. Not to mention thee are pipes going through the sides. So instead, the whole roof is hinged and it just swings up and rests on the fence. P.S. Pool pumps aren't very noisy, so...
