To me it sounds like your pump is slowly losing prime. Are there air bubbles in the pump when you vacuum? What about during normal operation? If your hose has a swivel cuff on one end, make sure it's on the end that attaches to the vac head and not the other side. Adam

I would run a full set of test results and post them here. The experts will get you on the fast track to a perfect pool in no time. :-D Using a manual vacuum is simple enough. As long as you make sure to get all of the air out of the hose before connecting it to the skimmer you should be good...

:cry: Well that stinks. Don't think that's in the budget now after spending the money to build the hot tub. Well at least the low speed still works so I can use that to circulate and filter the water. Since it's 120v wired, I can only heat on low anyway, not that I plan to do that much anyway...

When you switch from pool mode to spa mode, do you change anything on the heater, beside the temp? If the heater has a spa mode and a pool mode, maybe there are two seperate limits... Also, did you have this problem before the heater was retrofitted with the digital control? Adam

Another vote for on all the time here. Course, we live in SE Wis. and as I type this it's only 75 outside. We need to retain all the heat we can get! No problems with algae as long as the chlorine is maintained. Adam

Update again. I flipped back on the power to the motor on low speed(sending power to low speed terminal) and got the Humm again. As it hummed, I spun the motor with the screwdriver slot on the back and it stayed spinning on it's own. Adam

In the Spa and Hot Tub Forum someone had their brand new spa turn yellow/brown on them when they filled and added chlorine. They just kept the filter running until the water cleared up on it's own. Are you catching a lot of yellow/brown stuff in your filter? Adam

Not sure about the bit, but it shouldn't be too hard to hammer a 1.5" or 2" pipe through the ground provided you left the other end open. Then all you'd have to do is get the dirt core out of the pipe. HTH, Adam

Personally, it sounds like putting in a bypass for the heater would have been a much easier(and cheaper) solution to the problem. This would probably improve the flow enough that you wouldn't have any issues while still allowing heating of the pool. You could have them put in a three way valve...
