    What's eating my chlorine?

Not sure. Must have dropped them prior to his capture.

Agreed, it may have no charge. Making sure is worth the effort.

As long as you discharge it you'll be fine. Search YouTube for discharge capacitor safely.

    What's eating my chlorine?

This guy is. Any idea what he is? About 3 inches long and carries a gun. Had no problem surviving slam levels. Didn't survive fire barrel.

My generic pump is too much I think

Would anyone like to comment on my generic pump? I think it's working a lot harder than I need it to. I have 1-1/2" hard PVC from skimmer to pump to sand filter to return with a slightly funky mess of a junction to allow the return water to flow straight out of a 1-1/2" pipe as needed. I can...

Some example pictures. If you happen to have an impact driver it would be good provided you understand how it works and keep the socket straight in relation to the bolt/screw. Picture two and three can be used with an impact driver. Last picture I the impact driver.

You're referring to the other small bolts/screws? Use a nut driver, small socket and ratchet set, or a small ignition wrench. Putting some penetrating oil on them for a few minutes would be ideal but I also realize this probably feels like it's eating you alive at this point.

Test Kit Arrived Today - I need someone to walk me through this

Can he save it at this point if he (maybe she) orders a proper kit tomorrow?

Test Kit Arrived Today - I need someone to walk me through this

And if the water is green right now it would be good to put at least a gallon of chlorine in right now.

Test Kit Arrived Today - I need someone to walk me through this

Search YouTube for above ground pool testing with Taylor k-2006. It's not the same as the tf-100 but i think it will give you some insight on the process.

    Repair/replace sand filter

If you buy a new one you'll have peace of mind, and looks.

My son fell off our pool ladder onto concrete - ideas on mats etc?

25 cubic feet of much at home Depot is about $40. For more money you can get rubber mulch. I think I'd rather fall on natural mulch though.

    Completely Frustrated ANd going broke!!!!

I'm fairly new to this and offering the best advice I can and referring to others advice too. Is there some other definitive CYA test other than the one offered in the K-2006? I'm not familiar with the TF-100 but it sounds the same. Is it true that if you put 7ml of pool water in the...

Don't mean to be a buttinski, just be careful with the capacitor. It can and will zap the pee right out of you. With power disconnected you should use an insulated screwdriver, and I use glove too, to short the capacitor out. Touch the metal of the screwdriver across the two terminals of the...

Make sure the motor is dry. It shouldn't be an issue with any water that doesn't freely pour out but you might as well let it dry as much as possible. Since you already cleaned it out; not sure if you did by my suggestion or on your own, I've done it and had no issue. It's really something...

Additionally the back end of that pump looks like it's been sitting in mud. People are going to scream but the reality is that if that pump is in proper working order then everything exposed should be water resistant. A person should be able to wash it out with a hose. Not high pressure, just...

Well taking it apart from there is up to you. First I'd say can you move the impeller and will it go a full rotation? If you can shake the motor is there anything rattling? Can you update where you're at regarding it's function. As I recall it turns on to the point of pumping water but then...

    Completely Frustrated ANd going broke!!!!

I saw a post come up in my tfp feed via Taptalk and someone said to limit Clorox products due to copper. Maybe a paid opinion from the competition.

    Completely Frustrated ANd going broke!!!!

I don't have experience with both but dry stuff worked for me. I meant to add this picture of my pool math before adding anything except maybe 2 gallons of bleach during the fill. And a picture of the stabilizer I bought. So I'd say tell pool math your cya is 15 and then add the amount it...

Yeah that's how mine went down too. Speaking of strong pumps, I need to start a new topic about mine. I just love generic products that leave everything so ambiguous.

    Completely Frustrated ANd going broke!!!!

In your experience with cya in a sock, did you end up having to break up the clump that forms or do you leave it and it just takes more time to dissolve? I didn't know what was right, so I broke it up a couple times. Beginning to end it was probably two hours for four pounds to dissipate into...

    Completely Frustrated ANd going broke!!!!

Yes I would say get some stabilizer. I know someone is saying don't buy Clorox products because they are adding copper. That person probably knows better than me. I used Clorox stabilizer from Walmart. I don't know if it was a bad idea. I poured the four pound bottle of powder into a skimmer...

Well to be clear, at no point did you add stabilizer (cya), correct? And without looking back I think you said this pool was previously filled?

Jeez, I am a chemist!!! First Time Testing with my TF-100

I don't know how the tf-100 kit tests for cya but the Taylor k2006 kit with the black dot tests as low as 30. When the tube is full and you can see the dot still then it means the cya is at a level less than 30. If you took distilled water and ran a cya test the tube would till to the top...
