    Polaris 280 rides a wheelie

I can't figure out my Polaris. It rides a wheelie, goes in circles, won;t ride level, the hose twists and binds easily. I took it to Leslie's and they gave it a lookover - stated it was fine. I gave the Polaris to my co-worker who took it home and put it on his pool - said it ran fine. ( I did...

    Zero Pressure on gauge

What other options are there to clear out a line mechanically? Hire a plumber? I'm tempted to dig up the line but I know its a lot of work. Is there a machine that I could rent to dig up most of it?

    Zero Pressure on gauge

I bought a plumbers "auger" and tried the skimmer hole first. I could get it in about 2.5 feet but that's all. Not sure if it was stuck on a bend or what...At the pump side I could hardly get it in at all... I checked the other items on your list too. The first pool Pro that I hired came over...

    Zero Pressure on gauge

I have had priming problems recently (still do) whereby the water level in the strainer basket is slightly lower that the sight glass lid when turned on- bubbles in there too. I'd say its 95% primed. Poor flow out of the returns with a steady flow of small bubbles out of the first return...

Water Flow increases when Polaris is turned off

I tried that and no dice...What is a good device to use to snake a pipe? I tried a plumbers type but it would not go in the skimmer hole any more than 2.5 feet in.

Water Flow increases when Polaris is turned off

Here's an update: This morning we turned the pump on - psi started @ 4. Would not fully prime and very weak flow out of the returns. I checked it @ 12 noon- the flow in the sight glass was significantly weaker. ( I can see the water coming in from the inlet instead of a fuller prime). psi on the...

Water Flow increases when Polaris is turned off

Well, no multiport valve here. Polaris has a dedicated line on the side of the wall in the pool. I don't have a weir installed. I tried flushing the line towards the skimmer with a drain king attached to my garden hose. thanks

Water Flow increases when Polaris is turned off

Its not completely full of water and yes there are bubbles. It varies though. Sometimes the flow is so low that the water does not touch the top of the sight glass. Other times it will touch the top but will still be bubbly. The pool was built in 1980. My skimmer has 2 holes in it - one going...

Water Flow increases when Polaris is turned off

I have a long standing problem of not getting a good prime lately -we have checked all of the obvious. I am on my 2nd pool "Pro" and he cannot figure it out as well. The psi pressure starts at about 4 psi when turned on - not a good solid prime and poor return flow out the returns. Filter is...

    Filter Pressure rises quickly

I've got a 48 sq. ft DE Filter on a 13000 gal pool. If I completely break down the filter and add new DE I usually get a starting pressure of 8 psi. The problem is that the pressure can rise all the way to 30 psi in about 3 days if I leave the filter. Now I admit that I don't have the cleanest...

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

Ok one last thought. The filter started out at 5 psi at 4:30pm... By 8pm the psi was at 23...Is it normal for a filter to rise that far in that amount of time? Yes the water is cloudy but its no swamp...

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

I hired a leak detector to come out and do his thing. He can't find any leaks in the plumbing. He was able to get a full prime by blowing air into the other hole in the skimmer line ( that is connected to the drain). he said that a bunch of junk came out of the drain when he did this. He then...

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

Yes - I have attempted to clear it on both sides. I haven't blocked it off at the skimmer, filled it and then watched the level of the water in the basket - to see if water is leaking :? .

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

With a clean filter my starting psi is 8. Yes the gauge would go back to 0 when turning it off.

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

In all the times that I have vacuumed the pool I have noticed that the pressure rises to about 30 psi after having vacuumed for a while. Once I noticed that it is not vacuuming well I check the gauge and it usually at around 30psi. I then usually backwash at that point and it comes on back down...

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

Yes - it was pumping normally while vacuuming. After a while, I noticed weak suction in the vacuum head, the filter pressure was up to about 30 lbs. and there was weak water flow through the sight glass - all of this being pretty normal in my experience. I then removed the basket to clean out...

Still can't get a full Prime - Part II

In case you need to refresh : pump-will-not-prime-i-ve-tried-the-basics-t12473.html Current status: pump is sucking some water but not enough to get a full prime or register any pressure on my gauge. I can see a few bubbles comng out of the returns. I hired a "Pro" to come look at it. He took...

Pump will not Prime - I've tried the basics

Update: I replaced the pot O-Ring and washed the DE off my filters. Still no change. One other clue I forgot to mention: I did see some DE come up out of the main drain when this problem started. Not sure what that means either.

Pump will not Prime - I've tried the basics

I tried to put a tennis ball over the opening in the skimmer to see if the system would suck only through the drain. I didn't see any water coming through at all. Not sure if this means anything or not.

Yes - I tried the drain king in the skimmer hole. I only have the backwash and filter valves. Any other ideas?

Pump will not Prime - I've tried the basics

I turn the pump on a get Zero pressure on the filter gauge. I can see water flowing into the basket but it is not quite strong enough to prime. I can see bubbles coming out my return. If I turn it to backwash mode (DE filter) the backwash pressure is very low too. I put water in the pot prior to...
