And this is how it looks so far... In this shot you can just see the hut I also built for the pool pump and filter... Obviously that side of the yard is next to landscape - but I'm waiting for some cooler weather. These tiles really dazzle when the sun hits them.

Hi Kim, Yeah I asked the concrete guys if they didn't mind me shooting the video. They said it was ok so long as I didn't put it on the internet... something about being wanted by authorities in three different states.... I digress. So the pool build was officially finished! .... and now...

Filling the Pool! So with the pool surface finished it was time to throw in the hose and let it fill. We were warned that the town water supply would make the pool look green... It took about two days to fill by hose....

So we are now on the home straight. The pool was ready for the pebble-creed to be sprayed on. Our builder offered us a few choices on a pebble colour. We didn't want an overly blue colour or very dark but more natural looking. We went to a couple of pools he had recently finished to see how...

Thanks! Surprisingly not hard at all. I usually give it a quick hose down if the kids have been splashing pool water onto it. Occasional we get bat droppings squirted on the glass as they fly overhead (yuck!) but it too is easily hosed off. The rain does the rest. The pool looks really good...

All good points and I was thinking the same but in the past 6 months nothing has run into into it.. The fence sits higher than the ground level and it is probably more noticeable in person than in the photos... Now that the fence was in, the pool and fence had been checked by the local council...

Finally some rain free days! Things were starting to get back on track. The pool had been drained, the drainage issue sorted and the builder pressing us for a decision on the pool feature tiles. I just couldn't make up my mind, did I want black, did I want green, did I want blue..... it was...

Next... I guess one of the other major decisions was the choice of pool surround. Originally quoted was sandstone or travertine tile. However while hunting down ceramic tiles for the pool edge we knew that we had to have Granite tiles. Again that caused some headaches, should we go white...

Thanks. Yes the rain was a blessing to reveal drainage problem. As much as it was a pain, everybody was professional and we got a good outcome.

The RAIN CAME It was at this point I got a little stressed. In hind-site it was good that the heavens opened to reveal that one of the excavated field gullies had not been accounted for when the new drainage went it. After some finger pointing and dirty looks on both sides, our guys put...

Great glad you do! The aerial shots were taken with my drone. I highly recommend it if you are planning on build a pool.... Back to the build... So the "Shell" is now completed. Next we had to sort out the drainage in the backyard. There were a few of field gullies that were replaced by the...

Plumbing and Shotgun: All up the shotgun concrete took about 3.5 hours to do. I managed to get a pretty good time lapse of the complete process too. BTW the guy holding the cement gun was over 7 ft tall! 4eHc71O9IxU

Thanks Frank. How much egg nog have you had!? hehe. I think the layout of the pool is the first big decision to make for any new pool. It certainly gave me a few head aches.... Some more photos: Steel rebar installation.

Hi All, I'm a new member of this great site which I have found some very friendly and helpful members. I thought I would show some photos of our little back yard pool build which might inspire some to do the same. It took 10 years of nagging from my wife to do this and I must say I wish we had...

    Hi from Australia

So I received the CCL test kit already. Thumbs up for the speedy service from the owner who hand delivered the kit to my front door on the public holiday! They have also included the new pH test kit too! I did a first round of tests yesterday. Below are tests results from CCL and previous test...

    Hi from Australia

Ok I found CCL is on sale at present and have discount code till end of year plus free shipping. All in $150. I'll give this kit a go and report findings later which maybe the experts can give some feedback on. :) Do you guys also buy chemicals from local pool shops or from online suppliers?

    Hi from Australia

Hi all, The pool water is in very good condition and haven't had any water quality issues. My local pool shop actually accused me of micro managing the pool! Which is true - but why wouldn't I after spending hard earned money on it? Looking more at the test kits and I realise clear choice...

    Hi from Australia

Hey, Thanks for all that info. Really appreciated. I had a look at the clear choice labs but it doesn't contain a ph test any more..... I've seen a lot of talk about the Taylor 2006 on here and it seems to be the bench mark. What additional (k2006) refills would you recommend buying at the...

    Hi from Australia

Hi, I'm a relatively new pool owner in Brisbane and wanted to know if other people use pool shops exclusively for their water testing or as a back up to their own water tests? A few times now I have taken water samples to three different pool shops on the same day (for giggles) to see how they...
