I am glad that was the issue. With how those fittings work they require large surface area to squeeze the gaskets to correctly seal the fitting.

Is there a particular reason you want to use the skimmer to vacuum the pool versus using the dedicated vacuum cleaner line in the pool? It seems like its easier to connect to the vacuum line than it is to try to do it with the skimmer.

I agree that the cap is backwards. The flat part should go against the pool, while those flange lips are to use to tighten up the cap with your fingers easier.

One thing to check is to see if the impeller has debris in it or it turns hard. Its possible that there is something around the impeller that is causing it to slow down after running for a bit as it causes excessive friction and makes the motor work harder than it is supposed to and that it...

Does the sound change when its running and pressure drops? I have one as well and ran it 24/7 last season and will again this year on my little 10 foot intex. Only time it sounded funny was when it would get air sucked in and run dry momentarily or if it needed the filter cleaned.

I have an intex 20 foot round pool and i use that intex style skimmer in it. Makes it nice as the pool is so small that i dont worry about cutting the sides for a skimmer plus i can keep water level closer to top for more enjoyment for kiddos

What do you mean by thinner? The mouth of the skimmer side to side or up and down? Or thinner in depth?

Yes they have a height adjustment on the mounting bracket.

On mine i just make sure to get any air bubbles out from under the blue lip and only pull water from the skimmer and ot the sidewall suction. May also want to check to have the skimmer body down lower in the water to see if that helps. If mine is too high it doesnt work properly.

That is a terrible install job if done by a contractor. They need to make that right. I couldnt imagine doing a crappy job like that for a customer.....

It sounds like you may possibly have a blockage in your pipes somewhere between the skimmer and pump. Or possibly your valve may not be fully moving from main drain to skimmer. Just a couple of thoughts.

I dont see how adding 11' of pipe is going to affect the system all that much, unless you have super long runs to start with and are running at capacity of the 1 hp pump. Pipe size also affects it as well but i would guess with 2" and 2.5" pipe, the effects will be negligible.

I cannot say about a deck for your agp, but i would recommend getting a good set of stairs for your pool and this will make it safer entry and exit of the pool.

Just seen this thread and read thru it all. My question for everyone that uses this gizmo actually have their weir doors installed? From what i have read and understand, your wier door is essential for your skimmer to work as designed.
