Also general question. I'm not planning on using the pool any time soon but can you use the pool during the SLAM process or is that just for cleaning. During regular maintenance how soon after you add chlorine would you need to wait to use your pool or to ensure it's safe to use? Just wondering.

Ok. I just added the whole gallon 128 oz to the pool and turned on the inflor and water feature to help spread it around a little more. I've also been putting a separate much smaller amount in the hot tub. Using chlorinating liquid.

Just tested FC 8.5 ppm and CC 0.5 ppm and added the recommended 28 ozs liquid chlorine. How long should after adding should I test to see if it takes it 16 ppm? If it's losing that much chlorine or not holding to the 16 for SLAM what does that mean?

OK. I just tested FCand it's 7 ppm and pH down to 7.2 as I was trying to restart SLAM since I thought I messed it up. Do I just add the additional chlorine to get it to 16 then test how often to ensure it stays there?

Yes. I did realize initially I was supposed to keep it at the SLAM level. I was testing but maybe not enough then checking overnight levels. I thought it was holding chlorine because it wasn't vacuumed. I was brushing but it would settle. I let it sit like 3 days adding chlorine but not at SLAM...
