Slow supply when changing from pool to spa mode

I have a built-in pool and spa. Just within the past week, when I reconfigure valves (supply and drain) from pool to spa mode, once the drain valve is getting set, the water supply slows significantly eventually causing loss of suction and then eventually the pump shuts down due to lack of...

Cool, thanks for the explanation! I am going to have to work on the programming then as well as change my mind-set that it is good to have the spillover most of the day. Been a hectic past week so hopefully can get working this in the next week or so. - - - Updated - - - MyAZPool, thanks...

How do you have that programmed? You can align the valves in 3 different ranges? I have only a single T valve to either the pool or spa...and have only 2 set-points for the intellivalve so how can I have spa-only, pool only (no spillover), and a spillover setting?

Remember I am a noob to this soo... Ok so trying to do some basic programming. There are currently 2 modes: pool and spa. I have a schedule (spillover) where pool mode runs the pump at 2400rpm 6a-5p. Spa mode is on demand. I want to make the pump run in a bottom cleaning mode with increased...

Thanks for the input Dirk. Sure are a lot of assumptions, "appears to be's", and "looks like's" in your post but I appreciate it none the less. Like I said in a previous response, I will have a licensed electrician take a look at it. I'll bet you're a hoot at a party :stirpot: LOL, I'm...

No apologies necessary and no offense taken, from anyone. I realize that safety is paramount and that I am no expert on this (tho no novice either), which is why I am here. Believe that I will ensure all precautions are taken and double-checked before getting into the pool, myself first. Like...

OP, as I stated previously, I did not intend to hijack this thread. I had hoped a DIYer installation of the new IC would be beneficial. If you or the mods prefer this conversation be moved, please do. Thanks! Dirk, thanks for the "education" and your opinion - no offense taken. See, this is...

Well I kinda thought the reason there are forums such as this was for the exchange of ideas, and help, by "experts" in the field, when a problem comes up. I'm not engineering a new water feature, adding an additional pump, etc. I moved my electrical from one LC to another that had additional...

Yes to all. Pump prior to my VSF was a single speed pump lol - - - Updated - - - Been that way since the pool was installed (house built 2004)....I've only owned it for last 3 years...And main panel is on front of house in garage, this panel is in back.

It is connected to the neutral bar. Is there somewhere else it should be? Should it be on the ground bar? - - - Updated - - - I've tried it with and without a load. Unfortunately I don't have an alternate 12v source to test the lighting...I guess I could go buy a transformer...

It is all a lot for me with not having any automation prior, but it is a little fun lol. I know you are chomping at the bit...hopefully Pentair can get those retrofit kits out early (wishful thinking). Anyway, yeah that transformer thing is going to make me toss and turn tonight....grrrrr...

Yep, got the heater working (got it to come on at least, did not heat it to temp for the spa), and have the valve actuators "working" but not necessarily to my liking so will fiddle with those tomorrow. I should have had most of this done yesterday but had to wait for help in mounting it to the...

I connected the hot lead (120v lead) directly from the breaker and also from the relay to each of the "hot" input leads (black for 12v, yellow for 13v, blue for 14v) and got no output on either of the black low voltage output wires (on the old trans, didn't try this on the new). Anyway just...

No, but I don't yet have an earth ground wire connected to the chassis. FWIW the old LC didn't have one either and the transformer worked installed in it...I am going to get a grounding wire/connector now, regardless if that is the issue or not (should be grounded anyway). Back in a few.

Neutral (white wire on load side) connected to the neutral bus in the LC. Black wire on Line side connected to 120VAC. Getting no output VAC measured with multimeter on AC setting. No voltage measure also when load side wiring not connected to light wiring. This is for both transformers...

Sure, there were other places it could "fit", however having it in hand and actually placing the transformer in different spots even before the wiring was in place, the location where I finally put it seemed to me to be the best place for it. Perhaps if it were smaller another location would...

Not to hijack this thread, there seems to be a little interest in the Intellicenter installation since it is new so I'm going to post my progress here. Here is where I am to day installing an Intellicenter i5PSIC40. It is my first time doing this. This is the old load center I am replacing...

MyAZPool, yes my understanding (and hope lol) is that the Wireless components are included in my bundle. Unfortunately I do not have a cat-5 at my equip pad so I would not be able to test that for you. It would seem logical however that connecting a cat-5 directly from your router to the LAN...

bdavis, Awesome, thanks! My current set-up has the pool light transformer line side wired directly to a GFCI breaker (all within the LC). So if I have room (fingers crossed), I'll keep it wired/mounted the same way in the Intellicenter LC. Cheers!

    Wireless Pool Thermometer Suggestion

I agree with chiefwej. I've had one of the Ambient Weather models for over 3 years now and the same floating sensor. Replaced the battery only about 3 times as well and have noticed no leaks. Be sure to use vaseline on the seal (more is better than less) to help ensure a good seal when...
