    Tips and Tricks

Here is something similar to what I purchased last year. I bought mine from eBay because they were a little cheaper but they are no longer available from the same seller. Search for 21" disposable polypropylene hair net. Disposable Hair Net, Spun-Bonded Polypropylene, White, 100 per Bag...

Awesome, thank you! This is what my local Rural King carries at $4.49, $2 cheaper than what I have been buying at Wal-Mart. Diamond Crystal Solar Naturals Salt Crystals for Water Softeners 40 lb.

    Stuck return plug

Mine have also gotten stuck before. Have you tried wrapping a towel or wash cloth around it and opening it that way? Or using a large adjustable wrench to help you get a better grip along with the towel? I've had to do both as well but eventually they loosened. As to what it is, I can't...

    CYA Price

In case anyone is looking for a great CYA price, I just purchased a 25 lb. box on eBay for $40.45 (free shipping and sold by backyardpoolsuperstore) and received 10% back in eBay Bucks when using the app (valid 6-3-18 only) and an additional 5% back when using my Chase credit card connected to...

    2018 Bleach Prices

Yes, I just wish there more Rural King stores in this area! But it is a great deal! :) Dollar General used to be my go-to for bleach...they have $2 of $10 and $5 off $25 coupons. This past week, they had a .75 coupon on bleach. I thought it would be the same 8.25% that I bought all last...

    2018 Bleach Prices

I wish PoolMath would add price info about whether it is a good deal or bad deal like the above link. That website lists 6 color coded choices ranging from "great" to "horrible". I don't need the color coding and three choices would do on my Pool Math App if they would consider adding that...

    CYA Price

What is a "good" price for CYA? In the past I have bought the Clorox brand at Wal-Mart because of the Clorox coupons. I saw a review on here last year for CYA purchased on eBay. As long as it stays dry until I'm ready to use it is it ok to buy in bulk? Dry, inside storage space isn't an...

    Worst opening ever

Exactly. He could have the check deposited tomorrow and it will be too late. Also, make a report to your local BBB, even if his "company" isn't a member. They will still investigate and potentially he will get a bad rating from them, so at least you can warn others. Also leave reviews on...

Remove Water On Top of Pool Cover

I use a combination...a submersible pump hooked to a water hose, and a wet vac with my pool hose attached so it drains and I don't have to pick up the canister to empty it...just tilt it forward slightly. You can also get a wet vac attachment for a water hose.

    Winterize Pool Question

Hi neighbor! I'm about an hour west of Charlotte (near Hickory) with an in-ground vinyl pool and I also fully close. It is a pain every fall, but I don't want to keep up with the cleaning in the cold weather. I know plenty of people who don't close and just run the pump when it gets cold, but...

Thank you, I appreciate the quick response to my email! That was one of those emails I never expected to get a response to, so that made it even better! [emoji16] I was able to get the link to the calculator website to come back last night, so maybe it was just down for a short time, but I...

    Chlorine Price Calculator

Thanks, I did not realize this was an option. To Close or Leave Open in NC?

Hi neighbor! I fully close, but I know many people who don't close at all or they just put a cover on. My fear is an extended power outage and I have no backup means to run a pump. It's all a personal preference.

    rebate savings for a VSP

Exactly. Duke Energy will "give" me a rebate but I must use THEIR approved electricians, who are all about 45 min. away. I don't see the daily "savings" enough to convince me to replace a perfectly good 1 speed pump. When my original pump dies I might take advantage of the rebate at that time...

Protection for salt cell power cord

Wow, I've never had any issues with my cord either...I wonder what animal thought it had a good taste?! My only issue is it gets grimy from being out in the weather. I keep my cord wrapped with a Velcro tie so there isn't a lot hanging down, but this is just to keep it out of my way when I am...

    Equiptment Protection for the Winter

Yes, after I clear all the lines I cover my entire equipment pad (filter, pump, and SWG box) with a very large, heavy piece of material (it is like a coated plastic so water does not absorb into the material). The SWG cell is disconnected and is stored in the basement for the winter.

STILL not getting how to connect blower...

[emoji23] Haha, I agree. No one is born with the knowledge of how to care for a pool, so we were all beginners at some point. I'd much rather have a very elementary explanation any day of the week, even if it something I already know a little bit about.
