    Raypack Heater & Mice

Not a good idea to put mothballs in the heater. Naphthalene vapors are hazardous to breathe and also combustible. Read hazard summary on page 1!

Rheem Pool Heater Getting CLK on Display

The amount of corrosion that would be present on that connection would not impede the very high voltage going through the connection but might effect proving the flame. Make sure that the parts at the other end where the spark is generated are all clean bare metal and that you have a good ground...

    Air Blower Dying After Minutes

If you check for power at the motor and have power after the motor shuts off then the motor is off on the internal temperature safety.

It is also not a positive displacement volume like filling a scuba tank.

    Air Blower Dying After Minutes

Yes, but the air that is compressed would only be on the outlet side of the blower and the volume of air would be reduced due to the supposed restriction. An AO motor is cooled by the air from the blower inlet, The inlet air volume would also be reduced due to a restriction.

    Air Blower Dying After Minutes

We seem to be working on the wrong assumptions. If the airflow is being restricted, the motor is doing less work and the amp draw would go down not increase. Only variable speed and constant torque motors would see an increase in amp draw from a restriction. But if the motor is an AO (air over)...

    Air Blower Dying After Minutes

Most normal multimeters can check amps below 10 amps when put in series with the motor. Just be sure to insulate any meter or motor leads.

    Air Blower Dying After Minutes

Check the amp draw of the motor against the listed amp draw on the motor nameplate to see if it is working harder than it should. Failing motor bearings can also caause it to overheat.

    New House, Old Hayward Heater

An older millivolt heater (no external power feed needed). Lockup of gas valve selector switch and excessive corrosion indicative of severe problems. I can think of no other reason to disconnect from system other than a leak from either the heat exchanger or water manifold. I would not consider...

Pentair Minimax 100 burner will not light

You are correct, but that would remove all of the safeties and operating controls. As a momentary test it would give you an answer, but it must be only momentarily. Never did ask but is the heater natural gas or LP?

Max-E Therm SR400LP - Control Board LED doesn't come on

The Fenwal ignition control that you are showing is for a direct spark ignition system that both lights and proves flame directly from the spark ignitor to the burner. Note that the Fenwal has no IND terminal nor any F1-F2 contacts. Different sequence of operation.

Max-E Therm SR400LP - Control Board LED doesn't come on

Then you have the connection diagram that Allen posted from page 30 and also the ladder diagram from page 31 of the manual. The ladder diagram may give you a better understanding of the sequence of operation and what points to test for voltages. If you look at the ladder diagram you will see...

Max-E Therm SR400LP - Control Board LED doesn't come on

As I understand it you have gotten to the point where you have a display and can switch to pool and push the temp up to the point where the heater should start up. Correct?

    Hayward H300 Ignition Fail Code

Should not read any uA with no flame as there is no completed circuit. If your meter is off by 2.4 uA you should still have 1.65 uA. Check continuity of flame sensor to ground with nothing running. You might want to contact Hayward as to minimum uA flame signal needed. FC+ and FC- can be read...

    Hayward H300 Ignition Fail Code

It all depends on the design of the flame sensing circuit, but almost all will cut out below 1 microamp. Normal expected range is 1-10 microamps. Normal actual in use range is 2-6 microamps new or clean. What microamp reading are you getting with your meter in series with the flame sensor? The...

    1996/1997 Raypak RP2100 No Power

It is a fusible link. The continuity through the safety is maintained by a combination of metals made to melt at a specific temperature and open the circuit at that temperature much like the spring loaded valves in a fire sprinkler system when the safety melts.

Pentair Minimax 100 burner will not light

I think the original was made by an Italian company. Specs are not too clear but I did notice that it is listed at 4.0" WC rather than the more normal US 3.5" WC. Would considerr it best to use the original or listed replacement.

Pentair Ultratemp 120Q randomly makes loud compressor screeching on startup and run

I asked about the time delay because a scroll compressor can run backwards (very noisy) if it attempts to start up before pressures have equalized during the off cyle. Unforunately there could be other causes for the compressor noise but a tech would have to need pressure gauges and other test...

    Sensor Failure Message

Photo is indicative of rollout occuring almost wholly on the right side of the burners as indicated by rusting of the front plate of the combustion chamber (opposite of the side that the rollout switch is mounted). Observation of the burner flames with the heater running to make sure that all...

    Pentair Mastertemp 300 Keeps cycling

In the video you only showed the heater cutting off once. The Fenwal ignition control will try 3 times for ignition before it will throw a code. Let the heater try longer to see if the Fenwal ignition control will throw a code. There are multiple reasons that the heater may be cycling. Do you...

Hayward HDF400 Pool Heater Error Codes A1 and A2

Hayward is always FUN to troubleshoot as it is difficult to find the exact manual for different models with the included parts list with parts numbers. Pentair Minimax 100 burner will not light

The fact that voltage from TP to the unattached orange wire is 475 mv and the voltage from TP to TH with the orange wire attached to TH is 62 mv is indicative that the gas valve solenoid is stuck closed and the gas valve needs to be replaced .

What type (gauge) of wiring for Hayward Heatpro capacitor/compressor wire?

How old is your heater? Why is there so much corrosion in the photo. Is there more corrosion in the heater that is not shown? It is possible that you may have more problems than just the capacitor and wiring. If capacitor is bad you may also have a problem with the contactor contacts. I would...
