    Aqua Genie any good?

Might be a little late for this, but I have an aqua genie and it really got put to the test this year when my pool was super swampy when I opened it. Had it cleared up in 3 days, I am a fan of the aqua genie, trying to figure out how to close it properly now :)

    Helping out my brother...

I know he let the people that open the pool use shock and then used some leftover stuff the previous home owner left in the shed. So that is possible.

    Helping out my brother...

Morning all, helping my brother balance his water in a pool that was not opened at all last year. Water is very cloudly, about 2 feet of visibility. It is an inground pool, probably around 20,000 gallons. After failing to follow my SLAM schedule for 7 days and therefore seeing no results, he...

    Sock Method

I explained the sock method to a friend and then he went to the pool store and they told him to make slurry and add to his skimmer, can someone share the link with the explanation as to why we use the sock method? Thanks.

Skim A Round All in one basket

Love the hair net idea, I just bought myself some! So I have the skim around. I just put it in last night. It definitely seems to pull in like crazy from what I have seen so far, no changes to pressure on filter. Only thing is, water seems to be coming in so fast that because my return is...

Do you dip for each test OR fill a jar and do tests with a single container of pool w

While we are on the topic of testing, wondering how dangerous these reagents can really be. The bottle the CYA testing reagent comes in has a pretty dismal warning on it. Is anyone wearing gloves, protective eye wear when testing their water? I use a sports drink bottle to get my water, but...

    Balancing Advice

That was a good read. I have been running the pump quite a bit with trying to get the pool balanced. Sounds like I will need to find the sweet spot once I get water under control and full blown swim season is here.

    Balancing Advice

    Balancing Advice

Water temperature is 71 degrees, I eventually plan to keep it at 80 when the weather starts getting more consistent. The Salt levels are at 3200 ppm. I am already running the SWCG, maybe I should turn that down or off? Thanks for the advice on the CYA testing and I do not plan on shocking the...

    Balancing Advice

Thanks for taking the time Tim. I was foolish to wait to order my own test kit until after the pool was open so I initially relied on Pool Store advice. I made a concious decision to add the CH to protect my heater, pool store suggested higher than I went which was the minimum recomended for...

    Balancing Advice

This is my first season as a Pool owner. I am working hard at learning the art of the balance and while I feel like I am making headway, I still am sometimes baffled the way some of my levels are changing. For example, TA; I had it tested twice at the pool store and tested it twice myself...

Simple Question - Also CYA Testing

I know you are not supposed to dump tested water back into the pool, but is it safe to dump tested water down the sink? I know it seems like a silly question, but no idea if any of these reagents may be corrosive to plumbing. Also, looking for some advice on technique for testing CYA. I know...

Running my Heat Pump when pool first opened

I am not using either of those kits, this is my first pool opening and I had a 100$ Chemical credit from the installer, so I figured I would go there and get some advice and use up the credit. Of the two test kits, which would you recommend?

Running my Heat Pump when pool first opened

Hello all and Happy Pool Season! When my pool was opened, the tech told me to go ahead and run the heater. When I went to the Pool Store to get advice on testing my water, they mentioned that maybe I should not be running the heat pump depending on the "alkalinity" I believe? Should I not be...

SWG on same switch as Filter

Hello, the way my pool was set up, the electrician and pool company put the SWG and Filter Pump on the same switch. Should these two always run in conjunction with one another?
