Air bubbles out of one jet

that issue can be solved by installing a tennis ball in the vortex.

    Sand filter pressure issues

one note, does your filter have a rinse feature? you should use it just after a backwash, 30 seconds at most. this will prevent the green that got into the reverse side of the filter from blowing back into the pool.

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

skimmer sock, never used one, I just use the filter. at the 10lbs high I backflush etc. it is after you have done a good cleaning/vacuum and filter has not gone above 10 psi. and on a next day start up you see a real fine silt flow out the outlet jets, you may need to do that a few days. let it...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

most filter now have it set up to evacuate the air, my old one did. but it also had a manual air release valve. and yes it is normal for it to dump out your jets. the SWG also creates hydrogen bubbles, that is 'normal' and a sign it is working. usually those are very small bubbles. most all...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

hi Lisa to help you with the filter settings. youtube has many videos to view. but I will give you a crash course. never change a setting unless you turn the pump OFF first! filter setting; it is where you should be running the pool almost all the time. backflush; it is for running the water...

    Adding ph plus after shocking

a sand filter does not change the adding of chemicals. your filter might be better than a sand filter for water clarity too.

    Adding ph plus after shocking

now that you know the pool gallons, when you use the pool calculator and put in your gallons. then mouse over what is needed or low. it will recommend how much you need to put in. just do it in small steps. it does sound like you are going in the right direction.

    Adding ph plus after shocking

if you study the BBB method, it is bleach, borax (washing type) and baking soda. baking soda to add alkalinity. borax to level PH if low. bleach you know, but adding cyanuric acid (CYA) if your stabilizer is low. cya in crystal for may take a few days to dilute. do not over add the BBB, small...

it sounds like you may have enough chlorine in the pool. it might take some time for the green to die off.

    Adding ph plus after shocking

wanted to comment on your quote. there is a section about pool closing on here. you might not need to leave your solar cover on it during the winter. as your water cools down to 55 degrees green stuff usually does not grow. knowing that it is when I shut down my filter and stop using chlorine...

    Adding ph plus after shocking

try the pool calculator. http://poolcalculator.com/index.html it will help calculate the number of gallons your pool is. and if you do not get a high enough chlorine number on your test strip, you might need to add several gallons of bleach. if your test strip shows stabilizer too high (from...

Does size REALLY matter? (Sand filter question)

just be aware you have to add a lot of sand to the filter. sand will not clean better than a DE. and many cartridge filters clean pools better than sand. be sure you have a wide enough platform to put your filter on. my triton II uses 325 lbs of sand and pebbles. my 4" platform sank as the...

    salt question

check with your salt water generator. mine low is at 2100 and at 3400 it will turn off to protect it self. as for adding salt I might put two 40 bags in during a summer if I start at 3200. occasionally you loose some during a backflush or running your vacuuming to waste.

Depth Help - if you could do it again - what would you choose?

one more thing of the deep end. my companion had her grandson visit, 17 year old. he was showing off by diving through a round float like inner tube. he did come close to hitting the bottom of the 8'+ pool. at 5.5 feet it might be a broken neck.

Depth Help - if you could do it again - what would you choose?

I for one think you should put a yard stick next to you. 3' is the height of my pool where the water line is. that is at the skimmer the top of the pool is 3.5 feet and that is when the water is at the top of the useable skimmer on the side wall. I think of it as a kiddie pool. I am a swimmer...

Solar Pool Cover looking for advice/recommendations/suggestions

there is one more thing to think about. I had that situation last year. this year 4 weeks ago my pool here was stone cold. it TN temps dropped to below 10 degrees. my salt pool froze, salt water freezes at 20 degrees. it has warmed up to 65+. so even though my filter can warm up the water it...

    solar pool cover discussion

hi, I have had a cover for going on third summer. it started to split and a lot of the bubbles have broke. research has brought a lot to my attention. many have been unhappy with their decision and purchase. problems,1; they do not last very long, many barely get 2 years regardless of warranty...

Solar Pool Cover looking for advice/recommendations/suggestions

I have a 18X36 more rectangle pool but rounded edges. I cut my cover into 1/2 and 1/2 again. it has been very easy now for me to roll up (by myself) every day it is off for sun and going to be cool/cold at night I just lay it on the water and unroll it across to the other side. edit; I for one...

New FL Pool Owner; Seasonal Automation (Pentair Easy Touch) and "Solar" Pool Cover

Re: New FL Pool Owner; Seasonal Automation (Pentair Easy Touch) and "Solar" Pool Cove first off, I for one do not believe that solar covers warm a pool. that said, I have a 8 mil lowes on my pool. most do not last long, a wally world one says do not use with water over 3ppm chlorine, I guess it...

    Pool cover

in Houston you might not get cold enough you have to use a cover. I put one on mine here just South of Nashville the first year and when it rained I had 2" of ice form on it, blue solar type. I for one do not believe they warm up the water. now when it gets cool enough, the pool water 55 degrees...

    Cover for pool

hi, I have a less expensive cover from lowes, 8mil blue for around $100. I am on my third summer to use it. but it was abused, first year I accidentally hit one edge and lost about 6" of it. left it on pool during the winter it had 2" of ice when it rained then froze. wondered if I was better...

320 lbs of salt in 15,000 gallons, and only 200ppm? How can this possibly be?

read up on the BBB method of pool care. first off borax to balance PH. baking soda to raise alkalinity. add a bit at a time into the stream out of your water return jet. did you start at pool school? did you find the pool calculator? most people here do not use test strips as they can be off a lot.

Just opened, chemistry readings coming soon - I'm gonna need some help. :)

at 55 degrees usually algae will not grow. so I would hold off adding any more bleach yet. let your SWG add chlorine as it by itself will get ahead just fine. as for changes in FC and CC levels I would patiently wait a bit for further FC testing, let the CYA adjust. yes, if you added what the...

Just opened, chemistry readings coming soon - I'm gonna need some help. :)

glad to hear the SWG is operating now, 3100 is very good. you might check your model as some will not work above the 3400 mark, you do not want to over do it. even though the SWG is working fine you still will need to add bleach most of the time to shock the pool. there are some SWG makers that...

Just opened, chemistry readings coming soon - I'm gonna need some help. :)

my SWG read out has been with in 200ppm of what my local pool shop tested. I see you have a heat pump, do not know if it is on. but just a note most SWG will not work when the temperature is below 55 degrees or salt level is below 2100ppm.

Dirt/sand in the pool. How to get rid of it?

multiport pictures does yours look like the ones in the link? or is it like the slide valves pictured? that might help us, or a picture of your valve. the multiport valves have a waste position. what I do is connect up my vacuume, turn pump off, over night and let the silt settle on the...

So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How

I guess I consider my self lucky. last year I never had to add acid between rains and tap water added. my pool this year is already sparkling like a rainbow in this mornings sun. I will over time add to the mix somehow. just the thought of less chlorine generated...SWG would mean less power used...

did you read the BBB method yet? http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/4935-TFPC-for-Beginners - - - Updated - - - the reason for the BBB method is tablets usually puts in too much CYA and it could take a lot of chlorine to shock. if CYA is low enough just a small amount of chlorine is...

Should I replace the sand after clogging the filter?

hi shelly, do you have a leaf rake? I use mine during the fall and spring to clean the leaves up so they do not clog the filter. I do this before I vacuume the bottom silt to waste.
