New to the Site and Need Help

With your CC of 1 and cloudy water you should still be in SLAM mode. Your done with the SLAM when Your water is crystal clear. Your sand filter may take a little longer to get rid of the cloudiness. You have CC 's of 0.5 or less. You can pass the OCLT Test.

Veterns..please help this novice feel better....!

You went green because your FC has fallen below the min for your CYA level. You need to follow the SLAM Process to get rid of the algae. With your CYA level at 90 your FC should never be below 5 and you should target 7-8. For a SWG we recommend your CYA to be 70-80. The acid you added is going...

Help with setting the pool up for Winter

I would get your CYA to 30 for SLAMing. You'll use less bleach at that point due to the lower shock level you need to maintain. Your shock FC level would be 12. You will still lose some FC to sunlight regardless. After your done SLAMing raise your CYA up to 70-80 for your SWG. Also make sure...

    Testing fc with tf-100

As soon as the sample turns clear that's your end point. The sample will turn back to pink if it sits for a bit. Don't add anymore drops at that point. The first time it turns clear that's your FC level. If it takes 6-8 drops for the sample to turn clear your not at SLAM level FC. What's your...

    Adding DE to sand?

Welcome to TFP ! Here is an article on Adding DE To A Sand Filter In normal operation you don't want to back wash your filter until the pressure rises 25% above the clean pressure. Sand filters will filter better when they are a little dirty.

Water Clear but cover coming off

Yes I'd go for a bigger cover if this one didn't have enough overhang. 33ft cover should be good.

Water Clear but cover coming off

I'd go ahead and raise your water level up and get things going before your water temp hits 60. You want to start things up when you water temp is in the 50's. If you wait until the water temp is in the 60's before you add chlorine your chances of algae will increase. I'll be starting mine up...

    Ignore PH while slamming?

Ignore it till your done and your FC is below 10. The PH test is invalid at FC levels of 10 or more.

    Newbie - First Test Results

Welcome to TFP ! You need to get some more stabilizer in there and raise your FC up to 3 with bleach. Your FC is below the min of 2. I would add enough granular stabilizer to get your CYA up to 50 and manually dose with bleach until your ready to fire up the SWG. The. When your ready to start...

Some weird numbers, cloudy water - also SLAMing

Welcome to TFP ! By the sounds of it you've got a pretty good swamp going on and has gotten somewhat better. It's going to take sometime to get it nice and clear. The other junk you added could be causing some problems also. I would add enough CYA to get it up to 30 and maintain your FC at...

    What is this piece?

It may be an artesian pool. Just a wild guess. It's going to be a bit difficult to figure out the brand with out any paper work on it.

Cover came off over the winter, what am I in for?

Welcome to TFP ! This won't be a problem with the advice you'll get here. While your waiting on the freezing temps to subside your going to need to get yourself one of these Test Kits. The best value is the TF100. Order the XL option with it so you have enough reagents to SLAM the pool. You...

    Low PH and low CYA

I also vote for holding off on the stabilizer addition for now. Are you running your SWG or are you still maintaining FC with bleach?
