    Coping vs No-Coping

I also have a fiberglass pool and initially did mine without coping but always felt that it looked kind of bathtub-ish so I ended up doing a cantilevered flagstone deck around mine and am much happier with that look. If you do a cantilever and then also a tile line, you can caulk them together...

    Loose Flagstone Coping

take some pics and show them to us. Your flagstone were possibly not put down well in the first place and mortar/grout should work well to secure them back down. If there was a fracture line or a fracture line was created along where those stone are coming up then you probably need to work with...

Seal or not my flagstone coping

I vote against sealing. I spent decent money on a highly rated sealant, Dupont StoneTech® Professional Enhancer Pro™ Sealer , ($145 per gallon) and within months the my flagstone looked pretty much like it did before sealing. That was eight years ago. my flagstone today looks just as good as it...

Request for suggestion on a small SWG for a 6K gal fiberglass pool

I just wanted to update that I purchased a Circupool SJ-55. I went with this unit because it just had a price drop to $879.00 and had a longer warranty on the unit and salt cell than the other unit that I was considering, the Universal40. It was pretty easy to install and runs like a champ. The...

Request for suggestion on a small SWG for a 6K gal fiberglass pool

Hello there. I have a basic 6K gallon fiberglass pool that I have been chlorinating happy for the past ten-ish years with a bleach Liquidator. Due to the current pandemic bleach has become a really scare commodity and I just don't see that changing any time soon so I guess that I need to get a...

    New Northeastern Pa Build

Extending sprinkler heads is really easy. Just 3/4" or 1/2" PVC usually and get a male and female adapter smooth female on one end and screw on on the other and cut and glue them to size and just unscrew the existing sprinkler and screw on the extension and screw that back onto the pipe.

maintaining and/or replacing waterline tile on fiberglass pool

I installed my own tile line as well many years after I installed my FG pool (tile installed in 2012, I think I installed the pool in 2005) & used silicone for the adhesive and the grout. I contacted a number of companies back then that sold "kits" for fiberglass pools that included the tile...

Congrats on the pool reno. Looks very professionally done. What is the plan/purpose of the 4x4 post that was cut flush in the near end of the photo above.

    coping on fiberglass pool

I cannot imagine just epoxy holding cement coping bricks to a 3" fiberglass lip for very long or very successfully with that rear overhang. Any reduction in fill under the back side of the brick will pop that brick loose. I see lots of brick reattaching down the road. The normal way to do it is...

    New Construction - FL

I like the new design as well but I would lose the bubbler in the spa and I would extend the stairs along that one shelf wall out the where that white line is. It would seem to me that people would want to walk into the pool from the shelf and that way they could.

Bulging and cracked walls at the deep end

Pics would be handy. You sig says 18K when full. Have you emptied this pool? Is it bulging in or bulging out.

    Mice, Mice, Mice!

Have you or a neighbor been using rat/mouse poison? The normal result of those poisons is a dehydration of the animal often prompting them to drown themselves. Squirrels and rats who ingest the common poison being used now will do the same thing.

Pool Remodel leads to leak. Seeking solutions

I would post it on youtube.com and just link to it here in your thread. Good luck with the repair. It looks like major demo is going to have to be the ultimate resolution and I am sure that your reno contractor will eventually get there if you don't give up. It'll probably end up making your job...

    Fiberglass pool with a leak

That looks really really old. I would get some acetone and wipe down the gelcoat and see if the look improves. It appears that the gelcoat might really have deteriorated. The suggestion of painting epoxy on the bottom is BS. That will never hold. You cannot fill the whole pool (it'll bow and...

Flag Stone Coping Redo - Advice Needed

Sorry I missed your earlier question. Yes I would use Type S in the area between the bond and the deck. Let dry and then flagstone. And yes you use the same mortar for the mortar bed and the grout. Lay your mortar bed, smooth it out, work the flagstone into it until level, then spread more...

should I apply a stone sealer?

Well I gotta say that I sealed my flagstone desk when I first installed it and: A. It wasn't cheap. B. Within a week or so it looked like it did before I sealed it. I won't be sealing mine again. I did some research before sealing mine and got what I would consider to be the best rated stuff...

    My fibreglass is bubbling

I have seen it on boats. It is usually delamination. Typically it points to an issue during the fiberglass manufacturing process. Usually you have to ground out the bubbles and reglass/gelcoat the area. Some pics might be helpful.

    Chalky Finish on Fiberglass

I get the same issue every other year in the spring. Get a foam sanding pad and sand down the whole pool and filter it out and you should be OK for the season.

Flag Stone Coping Redo - Advice Needed

If you are rebuilding the bond beam Type S is prob the best bet. Quikcrete green and white bag. But before rebuilding the beam I would want to make sure that I really needed to do that. You could measure up from the water line on the other side of the pool to the bottom of the flag. then measure...

Flag Stone Coping Redo - Advice Needed

OK I will take a stab at it. I have done a fair amount of flagstone work on my pool. I suspect the "solid" mortar was put on the top of the bond beam after the pool was built to do a final leveling off of the bond beam. So I wouldn't remove it or if you do I would replace it and let it cure...

    Austin's Newest Swimming Hole

I would want the steps redone. I wouldn't water to pool. They should have sloped forward slightly I would think. On the void I would put crush and run in to probably. I would want it done carefully so that it is packed all the way back into the recess. But what is the black corrugated pipe that...

For those with a Hasa Liquidator

I have never had that issue. Some have also experienced a white sludge that collects in the tubes but I have never experienced that either. Normally the salts and other sediments collect in the bottom of the LQ. At the end of the season I usually disconnect the LQ and dump it and clean it out.

For those with a Hasa Liquidator

I too have a 4GAL LQ. Have had one for almost 10 years. And it pulls the CL from the top so when it is full it will be just slightly higher concentration. I have never really noticed a large enough of a diff where I felt that I needed to close the valve more when it was full though. Good product...

HELP: Fiberglass Pool Recently Retiled - Seeing Increasing Problems

Interesting. It looks like they used standard cement-based grout with the tile. What did they use to attach the tile to the fiberglass? I did a lot of reading before doing tile on my FG pool and everything that I read stated that you adhere it and grout it with silicone. It makes sense because...

Pool Coping Mortar and Grout Choices for SW Pool

For around the skimmer I just ground the flagstone pieces that would be going around it so that they were close to the shape and size of the skimmer. In regard to the height I got an adjustable skimmer sleeve insert. Yours is going to have to be pretty perfectly round since it is a clean cut...

Pool Coping Mortar and Grout Choices for SW Pool

I did cantilevered flagstone on my FG pool similar to what you are doing. When I laid it I painted Quikrete Concrete Bonding Adhesive on the cement base and on the bottom of the flagstone and then I laid the mortar mud right over the lip of the pool to the inner edge. Then I pressed down the...

    Vinyl Nightmare with Pic

It looks to me like it melted either from heat or chemical. That would also explain why there is no trace of the missing liner. 40fan might be onto something with the light that appears right above it. Perhaps a weird prism heating event.

    Pool up, walls buckling

I believe with an aboveground you are not supposed to lock the liner in and cut it until you have fully filled the pool. They normally give you many extra inches of liner at the top. I remember holding ours up with clothespins and clamps and having to adjust those out as the pool filled...
