Dye test found a leak in the tile grout. Is the bond beam cracked for sure?

Obviously you need to remove the tile to check if the bond beam is cracked and deal with that. I am just suggesting that a cement saw could be used to cut all around the pool to create the expansion joint

It might not be that expensive. You could actually DIY it with a cement saw rental from Home Depot.

    Replacing/repairing pool railing

I would think that drilling out the old ones would be pretty hard. I would drill new ones slight closer to the pool so that the old ones were still covered. I installed a rail a few years ago and they come with anchors that you hammer into the holes you drill. It is super solid when installed...

Twelve year update on Tennessee Crab Orchard Flagstone deck

In 2012 I poured a new slab around my fiberglass pool and put Tennessee Crab Orchard flagstone over the pour. I figured I would give an update after 12 years in case anyone is considering this type of flagstone. I documented the build in this link...

Flagstone on top of concrete deck?

If you do plan on using sand then what you could do to minimize it getting into the pool is cement down and grout the ring of flagstone that will overhang the pool. Then you could do the rest in sand and any sand washing out would occur on the outside.

Flagstone on top of concrete deck?

You can certainly flagstone over concrete. I did the same to my pool. Here is a link for the project, New pool proj.Flagstoning around (and on) my fiberglass pool I do not think sand would be a good idea. It will certainly run into the pool and since flagstones are not all the exact same depth...

New pool build with contemporary grotto

I have to agree on the ball valves. I used the same on my pool when I installed it and regretted it within a year. I would pay to have upgrades ones installed that can be broken down and replaced if necessary. But your pool looks great.

Fiberglass pool - replace light and light housing with fiberglass?

I have done lots of fiberglass repairs albeit to fiberglass boats but the tech is the same. This should be pretty straightforwardif you are familiar with working with fiberglass. If it were me I would want to get a layer of wet fiberglass over that plywood in the back when I screwed it down...

    Concrete block pool?

Ward, I would recommend that you do a search for Koiphen and post your question on that site as well. That is a Koi pond construction forum and they do a ton of koi builds with block there. From what I has seen of their builds though they are almost certainly going to tell you to do a liner.

Installing Glass Tile on Fiberglass Pool Hot Tub and Waterline Tile

Use Silicone. It is what is recommended for fiberglass pools. I installed my own waterline tile on my FG pool. I documented it here: https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/new-pool-proj-flagstoning-around-and-on-my-fiberglass-pool.39533/ I had bought my tile and caulk from a company that...

Removing ball valves that are flush with cement.

Well I was able to get my valves replaced finally. As I posted in another thread where the valves meet the concrete in the pump room is actually below the water level. I did not realize this until I cut both valves off and water started gushing out of both pipes! I had to stuff garbage bags into...

Issue with water pumping out of suction lines above pool water level.

I think my crisis has been averted and the laws of nature are still working. It looks like where I cut these valves of on the pad is in fact slightly lower than the water level of the pool. I am draining the pool down below the skimmer to confirm.

Issue with water pumping out of suction lines above pool water level.

Hello all. I had posted earlier about how both of my valves on the suction side (1x skimmer, 1x for the two bottom drains) were going bad and needing replacement. Well today I tried to take that project on and I have a weird issue that I had not forseen. Once I cut the two valves off, water is...

Removing ball valves that are flush with cement.

I think I have a new plan of attack. I am going to cut off both valves right where the inner pipe ends inside if them. I want to make sure that I am correct that it is just a small section of 1.5" pipe that has been reduced down. I have an aluminum flashlight that is almost perfectly the inside...

Removing ball valves that are flush with cement.

Here is what I am referring to. The back valve is the one that is leaking and needs to be replaced. What I have is 2" pipe coming up through the cement, reduced to 1.5" and the valves are glued onto that. As you can see I don't really have any space above the valves to just add another above it.

Removing ball valves that are flush with cement.

Unfortunately the problem one is leaking from the joint. I had to turn it the other day and I used a pipe wrench to turn it. It was really tight and when I had turned it back I had created a small leak in the joint. I could probably epoxy it sealed again but since I really need to replace the...

Removing ball valves that are flush with cement.

When I put my pool in I foolishly used box shop ball valves. I also foolishly cemented them fairly flush on the pool pad. One of them has failed on me and I need to replace it. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to remove a valve without damaging the PVC pipe underneath. I am...

    Repairing Coping Pavers Edge Seal

I cannot find any information on Mapesil T Silastic Caulk but it sounds like silicone caulk? If so that is what I would use. Retile water line

If you are careful you could use an angle grinder to get the old caulk and grout off. Otherwise just use a razor. but use silicone to attach the new tile and then also silicone to grout it. Done correctly it'll last for a long time. Drain the pool down to the level that you want to tile up from...
