Chalupa, my thoughts are. When you say weak. What do you mean? Does it sound normal? Is it buzzing? Barely turning? If it all sounds normal, you should look for a suction leak that is causing low suction. Does that make sense?

No, the jet fitting would not have anything to do with a water leak. It's for water direction only. But, if it was hard to get in, or screwed in crooked or wrong, it could have cracked the wall fitting. I've seen that happen. Has your pool started leaking after your PM put the fitting in?

It looks like it's a 1 1/2 threaded fitting. There are al kinds of threaded grates that can go on it. A good pool store or online will have lots of options for your pool.

If you mean natural gas, then Raypak is the best. The heater Su Ize will need to be based on the amount of gallons of your pool.

Yardley, most good pool stores will sell what they call a "GO" kit for your specific pump which will include the seal, o-rings, etc. That will make your job easier.

Hi Shawnworst! I'm up the road north around Temecula. I don't know of any customers around here that uses heat pumps. They don't work well in SoCal at all due to the time it tales to bring the temp up to speed. The electric heaters I know about aren't that great either because of Flo issues but...

Also, 1lb of DE is equal to 2 1lb coffee cans. DE is 1/2 as heavy as coffee.

Is your spa hooked up to a GFCI? Second, is your spa equipped with a electric element heater? In my experience, I've seen current bleeding into a portable spa via a cracked heating element, an ozonator, or a bad blower.

I'm sure it would destroy your cover; nails and such. But then, junk in a vinyl pool? I live in SoCal so closing pools is not here. Well, how about some type of tarp over your winter cover or right over your pool to protect it, then throw it away? Others here will probably have better ideas.

Hi McZero. Yes, a broken diffuser will cause poor suction. When you reassemble your pump, make sure there no rocks or metal stuff that could have been in the pump and caused this cause of damage. I know you already ordered parts, but replacing the pump seal now could be a good idea!

The blowers are set on the air lines. Without a blower, the air lines will suck air into the jets through the venturi fitting on the jets. Plugs in the jets will cause water to backup thru the air lines. That's why the blowers have a check valve, to prevent water from backing up into the blower...

So without a MD, I would definitely add a pool cleaner.

For what it is worth, I agree with Charlie. I live in SoCal and rarely use my attached spa. My family talked me into it and I built my own pool! Go with what you really want, and don't be talked into something you're really not sure of.

I guess that your pipe on the deck is a stand pipe? I would assume that it is valves separately from your equipment, and if so, then capping it would not be an issue unless your kids turn it on. Unless you have sharp broken pvc pipe in the hole, I would leave it alone. As for repair, it looks...
