    CSI opinion

And low CSI is considered corrosive is it not? So why is that not an issue for a heater?

    CSI opinion

Hi Folks, Just looking for an opinion on my current CSI. My PM numbers look good and the pool is probably a little cooler than typical but the CSI seems low which would indicate corrosive? Vinyl, SWG and Heater Thanks

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Prior to finding TFP, hazy water was always my sign that the Cl levels were dropping in the pool. I haven't pulled the solar blanket off to check the clarity but will do so. I will also install a newer cell as I think the current one is near end of life as I am getting "add salt" light when I...

@mknauss OCLT showed a drop of 1ppm and with heavy rain overnight likely a little less.

    LM2-24 Cell issues

I found TFP....no pool store for me. Thanks for the quick replies. Greatly appreciated and we will see what the AM brings. Am I correct that FC should not drop more than 0.5 between PM and AM tests?

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Well I guess that OCLT will tell us that but the pool is spotless other than the water is cloudy (can still see the bottom) which was always our indicator that the Cl was dropping before I found TFP...

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Ya, looks like a stream of smoky water and as I turn the output up and down the "smoke" increases and decreases as you would expect. I have ran a quick test about an hour after adding the liquid Cl and it appears to be fine. The 20 Mule addition may have been a little too much but for now...

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Here is a pic which I believe looks like the SWG is in fact generating Cl?

Ok, should be close to 10 using "effects of adding" as my guide. Will test tonight when dark and again in the AM. Solar blanket is on for the duration

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Ya, I added CYA and am waiting a few days before testing. Hoping to be in the 50-60 range for that. I have 10L of liquid and will raise to match the CYA/FC recommendation

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Seeing as my Clubs so low should it be increased with liquid Cl first?

    LM2-24 Cell issues

Having issues with the above cell. As you will see from my logs I am using the cell and not getting any Cl increase from it. When I first started it the Cl increase was reasonable for 24hrs of service and now the Cl is dropping even though I have increased the % output and even tried another...

Hayward H250 ED2C Service LO preventing heater from firing

Just thought I would close the loop. All 5 sensors and the PS all showed closed with the pump running however the wire coming off the terminal block had disconnected itself and therefore the test loop was open. Plugged the wire back onto the terminal block and all is good . Good...

How would you test the sensors?

Hayward H250 ED2C Service LO preventing heater from firing

It is not stuck closed but rather open about 25-30% (best guess) but certainly not 100% (spring loaded). All other items have no issue as I have not seen an reduction in flow at my returns and the heater in-line. Also, no significant increase in filter pressure although the sand would be...

Hayward H250 ED2C Service LO preventing heater from firing

Disconnected the connectors at the temp sensors, disconnected the spade connectors at the PS. Tested all above with flow on and all were open circuit

Hayward H250 ED2C Service LO preventing heater from firing

Yes, single speed Superpump. No flow issues last season. Skimmer is good and no stuck weir door. As I said I am getting an open circuit on the temp limit switches (2) and the pressure switch.

Hayward H250 ED2C Service LO preventing heater from firing

Would it make sense to consider that a Jandy check valve would cause a sufficient back pressure such that the flow would be reduced?
  21. M

Hayward H250 ED2C Service LO preventing heater from firing

I am getting a LO alarm which I understand is related to flow and affects the PS. Here is what I know, With flow through heater 1 - PS is open circuit when checking continuity on the PS connectors. Should this be closed with pump running? I can verify flow as I have a check valve on the...

TF Test kit arrived...and now we go!!!

I do and see that my addition will drop my pH by 0.4

TF Test kit arrived...and now we go!!!

But won't pH decrease considerably with a dry stabilizer addition?

TF Test kit arrived...and now we go!!!

New kit picked up today and have shared the latest results, at least I think I have??? CYA needs to increase but should I worry about a pH boost at this point?

    CYA Delay

Ok, great thanks. I use the "sock in the skimmer" method to avoid build up in the filter but will have to build a hobo stick to hang over one of the returns. Thanks

    CYA Delay

I am using CYA granules and have added 1.8kg of about 6 that was recommended on PM. I just had a store test (I know...) which is still showing 0. I am not concerned about their reading as much as I am their comment. They said..."do not add more if you have already added as it takes 2 weeks to...

    Borates and TA

Thanks greatly. I do see scale in my SWG and have to clean that a few times in an 4-5 month season so perhaps it makes sense. I believe that I have found a source for Boric Acid which as you say will make the process a little simpler with just having to monitor pH

Agreed and as I said, still completing initial balancing. SWG is not on yet so an LC pool for now. Waiting on my delivery from TFTestkits early next week so that I can do full suite of tests although reported results are from my Taylor kit and not a dreaded pool store. Just thinking ahead...
