    Changing chemicals

You're welcome ! It's pretty easy to maintain your pool with stuff you can get from about any supermarket or DIY home center. Chemistry is chemistry no matter what you call it or label you put on the package. As William Shakespeare once said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"...

    Changing chemicals

Hi There, So what you have here is: Step 1, Chlorine Extender - this is stabilizer, a.k.a CYA. It protects your chlorine from being burned off by UV from the sun. Step 2, Chlorine Tablets. Pretty much self explanatory. The tablets provide a source of chlorine to the pool, and they use...

    Liner Replacment

I hired a pool company to supply and install a new liner in spring of 2022. I had to replace it because somehow, it developed a ton of tiny pinholes in the bottom. My best guess is due to the rough vermiculite, and my robot rolling back and forth across the bottom a million times, it rubbed...

    SWG plumbing recommendations

It never hurts to look. The worst part about the IC system has all of the electronic controls, and flow switch contained inside the cell. Thats what makes it so expensive to replace. A replacement IC cell is somewhere around 1100 to 1400 dollars, depending on the size. I had my Pentair IC60...

    SWG plumbing recommendations

I used to have a Pentair System before it finally gave up. I replaced the whole thing with a Circupool because the Pentair cell replacement cost just got way out of hand over the last 3 or 4 years. Anyways.... If I were you, I would mount the cell on Run 1, the 24" horizontal one. That will...

Hayward AQR100 guide vs TFP for CYA and FC

Getting back to the CYA and FC... Maybe I missed it, if so, plese ignore me. But if not, then let me try and help you understand this... You posted this from the manual It says target cya 30-50 and fc 1-3 so I’m confused! This is where the manufacturers differ from TFP, it's how and for what...

    Robot Recommendations

Hi David0408, I use and recommend the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus. It's great choice if you are looking for something to get the job done and done well. This is my 2nd one and I've had it for for 2 years now. I think they run somewhere around 750 to 800 dollars these days. First, let me tell...

    Setting expectations about a robot

I can tell you my experience with robots is opposite of what you've heard. My Dolphin Nautilus lasted 7 years and never once did i have to replace anything on it. Last fall, year 8, it finally gave up. I replaced the old gal in November with a S20 and its ticking along just fine.

Can be exhausting trying to teach the TFP methodology

Im right there with ya. I have several friends with pools, and I use to try and convert them, but they wont get on board. So now I avoid the subject pool chemistry all together.

    Brand New Circupool RJ30+ Issues.

Hi Oly Thanks for the reply. Now that you mention it, I recall reading about rotating the cell so the bulge is down. With trying to figure out the Low Salt alarm, It slipped my mind. I will keep it in mind and rotate the thing. That should let me run at a more desireable flow and RPM.

    Brand New Circupool RJ30+ Issues.

Hey you guys, If any of you mods or anyone else who reads this post know any Circupool folks that I ordered this RJ30+ SWG from that participate on TFP forum, please point them to my post. This past weekend I replaced my Pentair IC 40 with a Circupool RJ+30. I am struggling to figure out why...

    Circupool sj45 issue

I think you need to call tech support. Something is not right. I just installed a brand new RJ+30 and having a similar problem which I will start my own thread about. My salt is 3700. The RJ 30 menu "Salt Now" says its much lower.......

Questions for Dolphin Robot Cleaner Owners

Dolphins highly recommended by me, no matter which model it is. Overall, they are extremely reliable. Like anything else tho, the odd ball problematic unit periodically pops into view.

Pentair IC40 - bit the dust

I've had a Pentair IC40 for 8 years. It worked well and I liked it. 1.5 yrs ago, the original cell conked out and I replaced it at the eBay price of ~ 675ish for a new one. Now, the 1.5 yr old one has bit the dust and a replacement IC40 is about 1000$ give or take (yes I know why). UGH! If Im...

    New and overwhelmed

@Searstj The premise of using liquid chlorine over powdered shock, is to not add any additonal chemicals to the pool which aren't needed. When Slamming, its especially emphasized not to use anything which will add CYA which is what Trichlor does. According to the pool math app, cal hypo...

New DIY Inground pool build - Arkansas (Picture Heavy) - Outdoor Kitchen Complete!!!

This is awesome and I LOL'd when you said finishing the deep end by hand was hard. I DIY'ed my pool too, and so I can relate to that! and P.S. the pool house rocks. I could live in that thing.

I’m tired of replacing my pressure gauge

7 yrs ago, I install the gauge that TF Testkits sells. Its the bomb. Its made of metal that does not rust and filled with Glycerine. The thing is a beast. Here in Texas we had a bad week or 2 of weather with temps where I live getting down to around 0° F. That gauge just laughed at it. I...

    Rolling black outs possible NTX

Good luck! Hopefully our pools will survive this without too much problem. It was -2F here yesterday morning, more icing on the pool but the freezing didnt progress thanks too the bright sunshine we had yesterday. All still OK. I think if I survived Monday night, all will be fine. I'm not...

    Rolling black outs possible NTX

8 degrees and 9" of snow on the ground this morning in Longview, Tx. Burrr! No rolling blackouts here - yet. Thank you Swepco. So far all my equipment is fine, but my pool is starting to form a very thin layer of ice on top. I estimate maybe 30% of the surface is iced. smh....

Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus being discontinued

I have a Pentair Warrior SE and I got it from Margaret. Maytronics makes the thing, its just branded Pentair. All of the parts and filters on it are Dolphin ones, so no problem with parts availability in the future should you need them. Ive had it only several months and it's doing a great...

LED vs incandescent lights - lumens and reliability

Yeah, replacing those LED controllers and fixtures are expensive if they fail. similar to chief, I replace my incandescent with an LED screw in type bulb. The LED is considerably less lumens. That said, its plenty bright enough to suit me. These screw in LEDs do come in color changing...

Suggestions for a robotic cleaner to deal with pine needles

Pete, None of the robots do better with pine needs vs for example leaves. As long as its a quality robot, they're all about the same. This biggest draw back of a robot in this the volume they will hold. So really, it depends on what time of year, and how many and often the pine needles fall...

What to do when going on vacation - LEAVES!

Same problem here and I don't have a main drain, so thats out. Cant leave the pump running, the skimmer will fill up and restrict flow. Everybody who knows me knows I don't have any friends. So what I do? I just turn off the pump. Before I go though, I raise the FC to SLAM level. This time of...

How often do you have to change out a vinyl pool liner?

First, is to find out who the liner manufacturer is, and do some research online. Not all manufacturing techniques are equal. The major thing about them is how the seams of the liners are welded, made to the correct dimensions, and the quality of the ink the pattern is prinnted from. The...

Intermatic (or Dayton ?) timer not turning on

The same thing happened to one of my intermatics earlier in the year. (7 yrs old). I bought a new timer and just replaced the mechanism. Took bout 15 minutes total. I never could figure out why the old one would not turn on though.:scratch::scratch:

    Light replacement???

If I had known about that stopper way back when, I would have given that a try first before I dug it all up to fix the conduit. I had to dig under 3 ft of pool deck. There was no way I could refill the "tunnel" under the deck and pack it properly so I had to fill that space under the deck with...
