New pool owner, might need to brag a bit

It has a mesh cover so frankly I'm astounded it wasn't a nasty green monster. Really happy about it though! Especially since I read a post on here by someone saying that some people's SLAM process can take 80-100 gallons of chlorine, so I'm ecstatic I got these results with 18 gallons. Now...

New pool owner, might need to brag a bit

Understood, thanks. Then I guess it's a good thing I waited a bit to add in the chlorine!

My wife can be somewhat impatient at times. :whip:

New pool owner, might need to brag a bit

Please correct me if I'm wrong -- the CYA is merely to protect the chlorine from the sun, yes? Does it do anything to protect the equipment? Looks like adding in the ~5 gallons of chlorine during my 'what if' experiment (should) have raised the FC level to about 22. Hopefully that didn't do...

New pool owner, might need to brag a bit

TL;DR: Just finished my first SLAM as a brand new (to me) pool owner and it was a complete success! For the impatient people, the photos are at the bottom. ;) ------------------------------------ This forum and website are great – I’ve read just about everything on here and went from knowing...

Is it OK to drain your pool into a lake?

Perfect! There's a ton of Canada geese that live on the lake that are loud, obnoxious, and poop everywhere. ;) AND if I kill all the fish in the lake there won't be any reason for my brother-in-law to come over and go fishing! Double win!!

Is it OK to drain your pool into a lake?

Hello all, I recently acquired a house with a pool -- IG, vinyl, roughly 22,000 gallons. Pool is about 10 years old and (supposedly, according to the previous homeowner's pool guy) will need a liner in the next season or two. With the age of the pool I'm not surprised. Just out of curiosity...

New pool owner, test results, sanity check

No -- I do not own a pool vacuum and I don't believe the previous homeowners left one. I'll check in my crawlspace to see if there's one hidden away in there (which is where I found the skimmer baskets, pole, and skimmer net).

New pool owner, test results, sanity check

Hello all, I'm new to this pool thing; just purchased a house a few months ago that has a pool. According to the previous owner it is approximately 22,000 gallons. I'm going to verify that with the pool contractor who originally installed it in 2006/2007 but in the meantime let's go with that...
