How often and how much chlorine do y’all have to add to SWG pool?

Pump runs from 12am-8am daily. SWG was set to 75% but had low numbers. It was bumped it up to 90% and now a little to high, might need around 80%. Not sure if it’s better to run the pump longer at a lower % or shorter at a high SWG %. I did some searches here to see if y’all still added...

How often and how much chlorine do y’all have to add to SWG pool?

Just curious… How often do you add chlorine to your pools in the summer months with SWG? Just did my test today. I typically do them once a week, but might need to consider 2x a week. FC levels was 0. Need to add 1.5 gallons of bleach or so. Also, looks like my pool builder left the SWG a...

New pool build - first weeks chemical issue

Thank you for your info. I added regular store bleach and things a looking clearer! A few more questions…. When trying to record my FC in the app, do I go off of what the double test tube Comparator shows (the one with both pH and Cl?). Guess I wasn’t sure what chlorine reading that one was...

New pool build - first weeks chemical issue

Thanks for the feedback! That was the chemical the builder left. Once I’m done with his supply, I’ll buy what you mentioned. Should I try to add a little mutation acid to help lower my ph and possibly reduce the cloudiness?

New pool build - first weeks chemical issue

Here are a few assumptions I’m making now at this point… Yes, I see my FC is low. I’m assuming since this is what cause everything to get cloudy so fast, I probably need to hold off on adding much more at this time? I just added 75% of what my last test called for. Cya is low. But again...

New pool build - first weeks chemical issue

Hey folks! I’m new here and still learning A LOT! Just got done with a brand new pool build. Pebble tech was shot last weekend. Filled pool up first part of last week. Water seemed clear and all was good while the builder was getting the chemicals balanced. We did a crash course “pool...

Am I crazy? Being my own contractor for pool? (DIY?)

Thanks for all that info. Got some more numbers to crunch. Worse case, I would like to know these dollar amounts so I can at least have a conversation with my PB about it and make it known that I’m considering it. Might make them get a sharper pencil if they are wanting the business!

Am I crazy? Being my own contractor for pool? (DIY?)

Thank everyone for your replies so far. Yes, I'm sure some of these numbers are low. Still need to get more accurate ones this week. As for the electrical comment about being way low, that is to run electrical from my panel to the equipment pad, around the pool and to outdoor living space. I...

Am I crazy? Being my own contractor for pool? (DIY?)

Many of you gave me some input (thanks again!) on some recent pricing that I have received for our pool and how high prices are due to demand. Well, I visited with a buddy of mine that is having one built right now and he mentioned how the excavation, rebar, electrical and plumbing, and gunite...

Pool Pricing in a covid world!

Howdy! We are getting our bids put together and comparing different equipment. I originally wanted Pentair equipment, but one builder has quoted us Hayward. I read various things about them, mostly good, but still curious about y’all’s opinion. Attached is their spec sheet. Oh and now I need...

Thanks for the feedback! One thing that has been really surprising to me is the cost for an outdoor living space. 4 post living area with a solid wall and roof and some counter space (not including cost of grill/BGG) for $40-50k. Blows my mind.

Pool Pricing in a covid world!

Curious to see if any of y'all have recently put in a backyard swimming pool over the past few years? We have been planning on one for a few years and saved up for the day to come. We have had a few pool companies come quote our project and have been pretty surprised! I know with Covid...
