    Mosquitos

We use Tiki torches with Tiki brand citronella oil. I found the key to using them is to light them about half an hour before you go outside. We put four of them about ten feet from each corner of the pool. They work great. Oil is kind of expensive though! We burn through about 6 gallons a year.

    Cool pool

I live in south Louisiana and it gets really hot. We use a pool fountain at night and easily reduce the temp 8-10 degrees. I point it so that it shoots as high as possible and it works great. Check it out below. If you used two you would probably see even better results. Amazon.com: pool flower...

Digital Nano SWG, failing cell 1.5 years old?

You do not state what your salt level is. Many units will stop producing chlorine if the salt level falls below a certain threshold.

    Who knows, who doesn't?

Wayne, look at the bright side. You found this site and now YOU will know what is going on with your pool. Two weeks ago I had to climb a fence that borders my neighbors yard to look at a tree in his yard that is damaging my fence. I was absolutely horrified to see about six kids swimming in a...

Opinion on time clock vs automation

Generally I love simplicity but I have to say I absolutely love my Jandy Aqaulink. I like being able to control everything from the remote. If we have guests I can turn on the waterfalls remotely. If it is raining I like being able to turn on my pump and generate some extra chlorine. If we are...

Need some help with High PH

All that aerating is causing your PH to rise. I have two waterfalls and SWCG (which also aerates the water) and my PH goes from 7.2 to 7.8 in 5-7 days.

Does your pool feels like a spa? Get a Glacier Pool Chiller

Second what Duraleigh posted. We purchased a fountain that screws into one of the returns. It looks like a flower. We run it overnight and drop 8-10 degrees. It cost around $15.

    CYA....

It can take up to seven or eight days to show up. I think it is because since it is granular it needs to very thoroughly mix with your water to give an accurate reading.

    Draining Pool - Terrified

I agree with Pooldv that the waterline tile makes it look like this is a gunite pool since it appears that the waterline tile is even with the surface of the pool. It you look at the stairs you will see tile and grout on the edge of the stairs. I have never seen stairs like this on a FG pool...

    What's your current pool temp?

We hit 90 today. It will probably drop to 86 tonight. I stopped using the solar cover this season. I figured when it was warm enough I will swim. We hit 84 in late April and took a dip which is surprising given the cold winter we had in the south.

HOw to read CYA with TF-100

When you do this test you also want to make sure you are outside with the sun to your back. I never do this test inside, or outside if it is overcast. You can also purchase a CYA standards solution so you will know what to look for. This is a great thread on the subject...

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I wanted to post this to confirm that what is taught on this forum WORKS!
