    Filter fiber

If you had a DE filter you could filter finer particles. Everyone will see particles in water at night with your pool lights illuminating the water. You would see the same in tap water at a high volume if it were illuminated.

    Polaris 360 Not Moving properly

What is your water temp? When my water is below 70 it moves in weird ways because the hose to it is not flexible. When i pull mine out now the hose is “frozen” in place. If I leave it on the deck in the sun to warm up it runs normally.

Time to figure out pool water chemistry (and more)

Diannapool22, Welcome to the forum. When you order your test kit I would recommend you get the Speedstir. It makes testing a breeze. Otherwise you will be doing a lot of swirling by hand. It goes much quicker with the speedstir. I also have the measuring tool. It is a piece of tubular aluminum...

    Crazy Fast PH Rise

Ditto on what everyone recommended. I run my TA at 60 and keep it there. Mine had rapid rise syndrome before I got my TA down. If I lower my PH to 7.2 it still rises to 7.6 in a few days but then it stabilizes and takes a couple of weeks to hit 7.8.

    Salt water pool? travertine?

A salt water pool is a chlorine pool. A SWCG makes chlorine from the salt in the pool. I have travertine and a SWCG. No problems in 6 years.

Anybody have experience with the Solaxx MET01A SafeDip Digital Test Meter ?

Waste of Money is you ask me. It has to be constantly calibrated and the solution to calibrate is hard to find. I purchased one for a huge discount at the International Pool & Spa expo in New Orleans about 5 years back. I sold it on ebay for $20. My loss is your gain. Drop tests are easily...

Propane Grill recommendations requested, good build quality, good value.

Weber is the way to go. Mine was out of warranty and I called about the bottom of my firebox warping so bad the top would not close. They sent a new firebox, flavor bars, and all new SS burners. I could not believe they did that as it was out of warranty. I also appreciate they are made in the...

Hi Bonze82, We are practically neighbors as I live in Mandeville. Listen to these guys and gals and follow their advice. I have been a member for just over 5 years and I have yet to slam my pool. You will not get anywhere without a good test kit. Also get the speedstir and the round steel...

Oh you're getting a pool? That means you must be rich....and stupid.....

Have you called your gas company to do it? We called our gas company when we were installing a whole house generator and they offered to not only run the line, they would install an additional meter to make sure the generator would have a dedicated gas line with enough PSI to run the generator...

K-1766 Drop Test Results Compared to SWG System Reading

I calibrate my SWCG to my K1766 every year. I always wait untill the water warms before I calibrate it. My SWCG always shows lower salt when the water temp is below 78. I tested mine when my water temp was 52 degrees. My SWCG showed 2800 but the K1766 showed 3200. I tested mine last week with...

    Glass Tile Installation

Lightstream makes some gorgeous glass tile. We wanted to use them but the lead time was too long for our build. My wife and I went to the Pool&Spa Expo in New Orleans a few years ago and they had an exhibit. I wish now I would have waited.

    Abandoning the "turnover" methodology

You have a fairly small SWCG for the size of the pool. I think that will be the deternminig factor in how long you run your pump. If you get a lot of sun you are going to have to keep an eye on your CYA to make sure you are maximizing your chlorine production. You also have a sand filter which...

    Tiny Pool?

My wife and I visit Florida a few times a year and some of the places we have stayed have what is known locally as cocktail pools. We have a friend here in New Orleans who owns a home in Destin and they have a small pool in their courtyard. It is about 8' x 12' x 3.5 deep. It has a large wall on...

Top blew off of filter body/housing

I have the same size pool as you. I have a Jandy CL340 filter which, as JBLizzle points out, is way oversized for my pool. It is a cartridge filter and I only have to clean it once a year. Plus I love that I dont have to backwash. Good luck on your search.

It looks like tahe Olympics could use somE TFP care.

I love the part about the Canadian expert looking at the potential filter problem. I hope they have a R/O filter on that pool and it was accidentally set to bypass.
