    Travertine Pool Coping Cracking

My travertine is now 7 years old. I have had 3 pieces crack since installation. I bought several extra pieces of travertine to replace cracked pieces and I am glad I did. None of my cracked pieces look no where near as bad as yours. Contact the contractor who installed them.

They just finished my pool, I went in and see this...

That is not normal at all. It looks like a great spot for insects to hide. It will also be a great spot for algae to grow. The skimmer is set way too low. When your water level gets high from rain the skimmer will not function at all. Tell your pool builder you want it corrected.

Just bought a house that comes with a pool, do I have an option to not use any electricity on the pool at all ?

What kind of pool is it? If it has a vinyl liner you might be able to easily fill it in. If it is Gunite you will need to check to see what it would take to remove it. Most areas of the country will consider it a nuisance if you do not maintain it.

    Test kit troubles

One reason for the discrepancy is the test kit you purchased from the hardware store may have outdated reagents. The HTH test kit you purchased from where? Probably Walmart which most likely has very recent reagents. I would trust that test. Your TA is pretty high which will cause your pH to...

Does anyone make an instant pool warmer? (If not...million dollar idea...)

I made a post several years back, I think for April Fools day, about a microwave pool heater. It got some funny responses. It was tongue in cheek of course.

    Cost benefit of the swg

I have the Jandy Aquapure 1400 and there is no way I would go back to manually dosing or a stenner pump. My first unit lasted just shy of seven years. It runs year round since we do not close our pool. One thing no one takes into consideration when comparing cost is your time, gas, and wear and...

    Volleyball Pool?

Check with your home insurance company. When we built our pool we contacted our insurer and were told our insurance would be cancelled if we installed a diving board or slide. I guess they did not want the liability.

    Bioshield UV vs Delta UV

Return it. You do not need it with an outdoor pool. I’ve looked into them when I built my pool seven years ago. When I realized they were useless on an outdoor pool I used that money to upgrade my lights to color LED lights.

Sport type Pool or Traditional Deep End?????

I am very happy with it. We have a raised wall along the back that has two waterfalls. The kids jump off of it a lot. I think that 5 feet would have been too shallow as the kids have gotten taller over the years.

    Lame tile guy did this

The first picture has no tile beneath the coping. The second picture has a full set of tiles beneath the coping. This does not look right. Post an image of the entire pool.

    What's your current pool temp?

We went from 78 to 92 in ten days. Had to put our flower sprinkler in to cool it down. The earliest we have ever had to do it.

DEPTH: Sports pool OR Traditional Shallow 2 Deep?

Mine is 3/5.5/3.5. It is L shaped with the leg on the L as a tanning shelf. We love it for playing sports like volleyball and badminton. We are older but our nieces and nephews spend a lot of time in it. No complaints about not being able to dive. We have a 12 foot long wall on the back that has...

Need Margarita Machine Drink Recipes ASAP!

Poolnewb, That is close to the recipe for the Margaritas at Tommy’s in San Francisco. BTW, agave nectar is a low glycemic sweetener made from the agave plant which is the same plant used to make tequila. This is by far the best recipe I have found for Margaritas. This was invented by Julio...

TFP seems to be too good to be true

I hear you MrB. I had a pool at this same house when I bought it 20 years ago. It was a nightmare to maintain and very costly. Back then I did not know about TFP, I dont know if it even existed. I ended up having it dug out and I had the hole filled in. Ten years later we built our new pool I...

TFP seems to be too good to be true

When I joined this forum I was testing at the pool store on a regular basis. One day I noticed the person testing my water got called out over the PA. She was looking around the store and I noticed the titrant she was dropping in the vial was not going in the vial. She gave me a list of things...

    PH meter fiasco!

I purchased one at the Pool & Spa Expo in New Orleans about 6 years ago. For Expo attendees it was half price. I snapped one up for $120.00. I should have spent the money on pool toys. Why does pool school recommend higher CH for Salt water pools?

I have been keeping my CH around 250. I just looked through pool school again as it has been a while and saw that for salt water pools the recommended range is 350 - 450? What is the reasoning behind the higher CH level for SWG pools vs non salt water pools?

    Someone must make this?

I use Harman Kardon for my AV system. I also have Roku on all my TV’s and Sling as my cable provider. Outdoor speakers never last long here in the south with our extreme humidity so I purchased a Pyle PA system that has Bluetooth. I just roll it out when we want music. It was cheap and works...
