Hi,
I just bought a house with a 16x32 in ground pool that has a Hayward super pump 700 and a DE filter that I can’t backwash. Over the last couple days I’ve been going through the painstaking process of running the pump, shutting it off, opening the filter, spraying it out, putting it all back together, and turning it back on to let it run. This morning, I went out to check the pool’s progress, and saw a distinct water line inside the pump basket, which I know is not a good thing. I turned the system off, opened the pump lid and found an o ring inside the pump basket. I took it out, shut the lid, turned the pump on and hoped I’d see a leak somewhere on the suction side. I didn’t, but my pump started making a noise that sounded like a dog whistle. I’m hoping this is because of air in the line and not because the bearings are failing. My question for the hive mind is, is there anything about this setup on the suction side where there would obviously be an o ring like the one pictured? My pump tank’s gasket is not a o ring like this and it is definitely in place, so I am sure it is not from there. Just hoping to get pointed in the right direction before I go disconnecting plumbing.
Thank you!
