New 24' salt AGP install - 1.5hp single speed pump (on timer) and sand filter 30ft from pool. Running buried schedule 40 PVC. Pump and Filter have 1 1/2" connections, salt system is 2". Have purchased all 1 1/2" pipe, fittings, unions to finish the plumbing. Would this be sufficient or do I need to go to 2". What is the impact if I stay with 1 1/2"? Decreased pump longevity? Increased electrical expense? Is it a noticeable flow reduction between 1 1/2" and 2". Does a reduction of flow hinder the operation of the pool?
If staying with 1 1/2" I am planning to mainly use 45s with no 90s if at all possible, on the skimmer and return lines. Looking like 3 - 45, 2 cut off valves and 1 union for each skimmer and pool return (main run) lines.

Also, if say I went with 2", the pump to filter is a short run, but want to hard pipe it, would it be best to stay 1 /2" for that or go 2" there too. Would that cause any issues?

Just trying to get justification on purchasing 2" pvc supplies over what I have now.

1.5” is likely fine.
All my plumbing is 1.5”.
That is a little bit of a long run but I suspect it will be no problem.
I’m sure others will be along soon to weigh in on various calculations.
Do you have water in the pool already? If so, be sure to keep it chlorinated properly while you sort out the plumbing - you can use a brush or a submersible pump to mix in liquid chlorine. (Pour slowly away from the liner)

Can you provide some pics of your current set-up?

I, too, think you can get away with the current 1.5” runs without issue based on the size of your pump. I have a 2-speed 1hp pump and on high the water rockets out of my 1.5” PVC.

Pool is not actually installed. Plan is next week, but I'm going ahead and having the electrical ready and plumbing stubbed to about 6 feet of the expected pool's location so just two simple PVC connections and I'm hooked and ready. Finishing up the pool's foundation now. I'll post pics once installed.
My wife has envisioned an outdoor oasis, in the past 2 weeks, I've ran close to 150 feet of trenches to my outside shed for electrical and water. o_O. After installation, I still got a concrete pad to pour around one half of the pool, deck around the other side, and build a gazebo. BTW I hate TikTok🤦‍♂️.

If you haven’t bought the pump yet, consider switching to a variable speed pump. The electricity savings and noise reduction is awesome. Pipe size won’t make much difference.
