Aiper Seagull Pro recall

This thread is really interesting to me because I couldn't find a really good comparison between the Seagull Pro and the Scuba S1 when I was deciding which to buy, so I bought both (SG Pro was $399 at Home Depot and Scuba was $499 at Costco) with the intention of returning one. Been using them for a few weeks now, and I am struggling to decide which to keep.

I prefer the design of the Seagull Pro - vents drive water upward and not on a backward angle like the Scuba (which sometimes disturbs debris on the bottom and then it doesn't get picked up on the next pass because it's still up in the water). The basket on the SG Pro is way easier to clean because the lid comes fully off. However, it only cleans for 2hr and 15min lately, despite being at full charge, and I think it has no time/strength to get up the walls on floor+wall mode because it doesn't do it first. So I've been doing only one or the other.

Scuba seems like it has a longer battery life, but I'm measuring for sure this week. The "drop it and leave it for a week" method worked out okay while I was out of town, and it's auto mode prioritizes walls first then floor so it really cleans the water line. Much to keep considering but I gotta take one back soon...

Got my replacement yesterday, it's a Seagull Pro! 4 visible differences, light blue charger plug, small wheel on bottom (probably to prevent getting stuck on drain), smaller charger, no "A" on wheel hubs. Did one run, went as expected. Happy I got the Seagull over the Scuba! Adding a flap of 50 micron aquarium filter inside helps catch the fine stuff.

I’m amazed they actually sent you an improved Seagull Pro unit with the 5th wheel; Aiper customer service had refused to send me the newest version last summer vs a refurbished unit.

Aiper Seagull Pro Review

After 10 weeks of waiting and frustrating email exchanges, I finally received a refurbished SN62 version in September (not the newest w/5th wheel). It has been working properly since then, EXCEPT like the original unit, the mode dial is now nearly impossible to turn despite being rinsed with fresh water after use. I really don’t want to deal with Aiper customer service again…

I sprayed some WD40 on the dial (on my old one) and it got very easy to turn.

Fyi, there are no electronics in the switch, having disassembled a dead one they told me to discard it fou d it to be a hall effect switch with detents. The detents have a thin layer of grease which seems to attract tiny debris making it harder to turn. Knowing that I found it safe to use a cloth wrapped pipe wrench every once in a while with the hose blasting while I turned it back and forth. Kept it pretty smooth for the ~2yrs before the recall
