Hey guys,
I'm very interested in the Betta SE Plus skimmer robot but can't help but wonder if it's going to get hung up on our ladder all the time. Has anyone had this issue or do I not need to worry about it. I called them up and didn't really get a definitive answer. Thanks!

My Betta came with some extensions to put into the bottom. the goal is that stops going on to a real shallow area. Or something like a ladder step.

If the bot senses no movement as it would when it hits a solid object, it will back up, turn, and continue on.

According to the FAQ, if it gets stuck, it will, "stop and turn itself into ERROR mode when running into obstacles it can’t free itself from or getting stuck. LED lights at the top backside of the robot will show the error modes and the robot will restart by itself in 20 minutes."

My Betta SE Plus occasionally gets stuck in the skimmer, but that's because the it can't overcome the suction of the skimmer.

Thanks, Mike! That sounds pretty cool. Our skimmer isn't that strong so maybe I won't have to worry about that, or put a noodle piece in there. The thought of not having to hand skim as much sounds wonderful!

I really like how it works on smaller debris. Really keeps the pool surface clear. I did put a small piece of foam in the middle of the skimmer to keep the bot from getting stuck. Haven't had a problem since.

Does it get close to the edges of the pool? We're due for an onslaught of that fluffy stuff from the cottonwood trees and it has a habit of clinging to the pool's edges.

My pool is freeform, so it is mostly curves. The bot spends a lot of time up against the tile working the edges. It's got little wheels up front that keep it from bouncing off. Does a real good job on the edges.

Mine doesn't get hung up on the ladder, either maneuvers around it or backs up when it hits it. Only time it gets hung up anywhere is when we get a lot of rain and the pool fills up, it will get hung between the top step and exit handrail due to water level. And yes, it is one of the best purchases I have made for my pool. Buy the extended warranty from Betta as well for cheap insurance. Kids like to try and use remote to drive it around too...built in entertainment lol

Excellent point. If you buy via Amazon Prime you get a 30-day return option. I purchased the three year warranty just before that 30-day period ended and registered it online through the Betta site.

Thanks guys! Yeah, the warranty sounds definitely like a great idea and necessity. Our local Leslie's has it for sale with a 2 year warranty, but there's no returning it if you use it, so Amazon it is.

Update: So I was all set to buy the Betta from Amazon. When I got home from work, my darling husband said he had bought me one for my upcoming birthday. It's a different brand though, an Aiper Surfer S2. Apparently Home Depot had them on a sale today plus we had a $40 off coupon. Home Depot has a 90 return policy and if it's good that'll be great and if not, I'll move on to the Betta. Anyway, thanks a lot for all the replies, I really appreciate it. I think these skimmer bots is the way to go, especially with all the stuff we get in our pool.

I just bought a Betta SE. We get constant floating debris which requires me to run the pump a little higher than is required to get a good skim. Hoepfully with this we can lower down to pump min and just have wally floating around. Stock rectangle pool so hoping it works pretty well.
