18 x 33 x 56" Semi-In Ground NJ

@Mdragger88
Thank you!
I can get one! I was actually going to ask that question about filling the pool lol. pending on the timeframe between pool construction and project completion I can just add LC to the water and fire us the pump/salt system when it’s all ready? Wasn’t sure if adding any chemicals would do any harm to the salt cell once everything is powered up.

Yup. CYA probably won't dissolve quickly without good circulation but get 30 ppm in there and if it takes 3 days to mush up, so be it.

Count it as added once it's soaking and never sniff min FC for 30 CYA. Everyday FC will drop and you'll quickly get an idea how much you should dose to achieve the never sniff minimum mission before your next test. Min FC is lava.

For the salt you want to do it in stages- add 3/4 of what
PoolMath calls for and let it circulate for 24 hours then test and add what’s lacking based on your previous results- let that circulate for 24 hrs then test again before firing up the cell. Its one of those things you don’t want to overshoot since too much means replacing water.

Well, I got as much done as I could yesterday with having the kids to myself since my wife works this weekend lol. Overkill? absolutely, built I'm a big fan of overdoing things so they last that much longer and it's 1 more thing I don't have to worry about once it's done. I wanted a clean look on the outside so I used 1 1/2" aluminum angle for the corner brackets to hold the 5/4 board this way you won't see any hardware on the outside aside from the door hinges. Will have a double door in the front and a hinged roof, will more than likely make the roof panel out of 5/4 board and cover it with left over shingles I have from the garage project. And of course, the designer would like it painted to match the garage colors 😁😬. Total for the enclosure and the pad will be just about $1,000 which includes about $300 for the base (concrete, gravel, form work, reinforcing mesh, mixer rental). So for and extra $700 I don't have to worry about the pump and filtration systems getting damaged and are out of the sun which I'm happy with. Will double as a tornado shelter if we need it 🤣.

Well the good news is everything was approved, the shocker for me was the $1,400 in permit fees I wasn't expecting For building, electrical, and plumbing permits. Mind you I’m also putting a sub panel in the garage during this project. Total for everything (at least what I put on the permit) was $25,000. Verified with the construction official and the fees are accurate. As if they don’t take enough of my money already 😂

@dleonard1122 you remember what you paid for permits on your pool? I know you said you were in the same area as me just different town. Not that anything can be done about it but I saw that amount and just sighed lol. I was expecting $600-800 for permit fees from what I read on the Township codes/fee documentation.
Sorry, I didn't see this username ping. My permits were $563, plus another $250 or so to have an engineer approve and stamp the drawing from the pool company. Like you, I also put a sub panel in our shed for the pool equipment.

I suppose this explains how West Deptford has that nice community center at Riverwinds with subsidized membership pricing for township residents

Honestly I think they double banged me for the pool permit. Because they gave me a separate permit for the pool installation with JRL Installers and all their info which was $350. Then I got another set of permits for all of my work; pool excavation, backfill, plumbing, bonding, electrical. Which was $698 for building permit, $175 for electrical permit, $75 for plumbing. But no one either the office personnel or the inspectors think the numbers ae off so oh well. I will say the ladies that work in that construction office are some of the most miserable people I've ever met 😂😂😂😂

I don't know how much mixing of concrete or mortar you do, but I bought one of these years ago when it was on sale

It owes me nothing. I have put multiple bags of different things though it over the years on various projects (equipment pads, stair landings, deck footings, way to many linear feet of Belgian block curb) and it has performed like a champ. Well worth what I paid. It could break tomorrow and I would feel like I got more than my money's worth.

Ugh believe me I want to have 5 acres to myself but not with what prices and rates have been the past few years. Hard to give up a$1200/mo mortgage even if we will be busting at the seams if we have a 3rd kid 😂
We bought 13 yrs ago so our 5 acres is a little under $1200 month. (Started at $900 something but taxes & insurance keep going up)
I can’t imagine paying today’s prices with todays interest rates for a similar house 🥴

Well today was supposed to just be equipment drop off, but they decided to start excavation which I'm cool with. 27” looks allot deeper than I thought it would lol! Granted the back is going to get a slope or a retaining wall to take up the extra 10” of grade. Only complaint I have which I called the boss on is where’s the laser transit???? Which he'll be bringing tomorrow, at least I hope he will be.

It is a little deep in areas and the “undisturbed soil base” isn’t so undisturbed so just a bit concerned on how to ensure it’s compacted for the pool base. Our ground is pretty much all sand as you can see. I wasn’t sure if I should add Portland cement to the sand or just rent a compactor when the excavations is done?? Install is set for Tuesday.

Excavation is done! Plan tomorrow is to cut out some of small roots that are still present from the tree that was cut down eons ago, get some granular herbicides and pesticides put down, and get the equipment enclosure hammered out. JRL is supposed to stop by tomorrow or Monday hopefully so they can approve of the excavation/size/ect. Highly recommend MVA Contractors if you're in the southern NJ area! @dleonard1122 thank you for the refferal!!!

Just to be pedantic, a transit and a level are not the same thing, and a transit is not needed for this dig. A level measure level (or if it is a fancy-schmancy one, at an incline) a transit, while able to measure level, also measures (precisely) vertical and horizonal angles. A theodolite does the same thing as a transit, but it a different way and more accurately and total stations are the top of the heap. They do everything a theodolite does plus they also measure distance.

This is like a fun topic for me. I actually like land surveying, and had to take college courses in it, ranging from old school levels, temperature compensated steel tapes, and lots of calculations all the way up to total stations.

Potato potaato 😜🤣😂, I used a transit for my patio let alone a pool excavation lol. The guy had nothing when he started the dig that was my main issue, and he said "I forgot the laser transit so I'll get it close" which was no bueno for me.

Luckily he brought it the next morning and was checking throughout the day. Installer was happy with it as install is happening now!!!! 😁

Holy Crud! Did not expect it to go that quick! JRL got here at 8am and left about a half hour ago to go build another pool. Did an awesome job with it now it’s my turn to hammer down, get this done, and enjoy the summer with my family!!

Glad I checked amazon after I went to depot for a submersible pump, got a 1 HP for under $100 coming in and I'll swing by the pool store for chlorine to keep the water moving until I get everything else done.

I know y'all are goanna revert me to another thread (which I've read a few) but the forum seems to lean towards the test strip kits instead of the digital testers?

Test *kits*. Tftestkits.net has the best value by a mile at the two price points. Or get the comps : Taylor k2006 or Taylor K2006c

Strips are too vague and also inaccurate.

Digital testers are basically toys for the gadget loving folks. At the price bracket you wish to spend, at least. Lol.

HD/Lowes/ Walmart will all have granualar CYA / stabilizer in bags. You'll want 30ppm per PoolMath

Then everyday you'll lose FC to the sun, more and more as the season warms up. Minimum is lava. No toucho, is no Bueno.
