New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Has anyone had to replace their cable? I keep getting the error code 10 which I assume means there is a short somewhere in the cable. I ordered a replacement and now I can't figure out how to access the motor and there are surprisingly zero videos on YouTube for it.

It came up on the app. I would start a cycle and the robot would move about an inch then stop and throw off that error code. I purchased it from Marina last January. Called Aqua Products and they said the cable is only covered for a year.

Good news is after I posted that I went back at it and it's embarrassingly easy. You just need to open the lid, unscrew and remove part 27, which I had done, but the kicker was unscrewing the propeller cover (15). I had tried unscrewing it but it was really tight and with it being plastic I didn't want to break it, but this time it came loose pretty easily. The top part then slid right off, exposing the cable/motor.

I'm going to replace the cable this weekend, will report back if that does the trick. I'll try to see if I can determine the failure point within the cable.

Dock,

What was the Marina warranty??? I though it was 2 or 3 years???

Please let us know if the cable was actually bad..

We have not seen many failures, so it will be interesting to see what you find.

I doubt something happened in the middle of the cable.. It has to be at one end or the swivel.

Thanks,

Jim R.

per the recommendation, I received my EVO 614 on March 29th. Love it so far only used it about 6 times and it’s stored in my garage when not in use. I went to plug it in this morning and it’s not working. It looks like the metal on the control port has been fried somehow. I’ve emailed Marina this morning, awaiting their response. When you zoom in on the picture you’ll see what I’m talking about.
For those keeping score, I received the new power supply box this week and things are working swimmingly. Thanks!

I see some folks are mounting the control box/power supply in an enclosure on a wall. I’d like to do something similar. I assume the power supply is not weather resistant and needs to be moved out of the elements when not in use unless protected by a box or the caddy cover they sell.

I mounted mine in a box because I wanted it out of our way so we didn’t have to move controller, vacuum cord every time we were out there. Makes it much nicer to pull cleaner out and leave it against the wall or just leave it in the pool and not have to worry about stepping over the cord.

I think I may have seen this asked somewhere already but can't find it. Has anyone tried this robot caddy from Amazon (described as "Universal Caddy for Any Robotic Pool Vacuum Cleaner", $89.99) for use with the EVO 604/614iQ? Is it good enough as-is or is adaptable?
Thanks.

I think I'll be doing the same with my control box.

Very impressed with this little robot. I received mine on Saturday and let it run 3-4 full cycles over the last two days. The first two cycles pulled out a half a basket of fine sand and sediment. The fine mesh basket was a good suggestion. After the first couple runs, it's now coming up with very minimal sand in the basket (maybe a couple tablespoons full). It's got the pool looking the best it's looked since we moved in. I'll probably only need to run him once or twice a week going forward.

Wanted to get help with my dilemma. Wanted to decide between 614iq vs M600/Active 60. Have a symmetrical 'L' Shaped pool with two 36' long arms and 18' width (or short arms). 6 ft max depth. About 35k gallon capacity. Have trees at the deep end that shed various size leaves. I do have automatic pool covers, but they seem to be on their last leg, therefore I don't want to use them very often (replacement cost is outrageous) and extend their life if possible. The pool maintenance company recommended E70 due to my "large" pool size and highest flow rate, but I'm fine without the thermometer in M600. I am located in Ohio, the pool season is essentially May to Oct with the heater.

I would really appreciate if y'all provide any advice to me in selection of Evo 614 vs M600 for my situation.
Thanks

Can the schedule feature be used without having wifi at the house? I have no wifi at the house I'd like to use it at but would like a pool cleaner that can run on a schedule rather than having to be started manually. I wanted to go for the basic 504 model but I see I need to spend an extra $300 to get the iq model for this feature.

cel,

I'm pretty sure you have to have the app to schedule..

There is no place on the Power Center to enter a schedule.

That said, I am not absolutely sure, so I recommend that you call Marina Pool and Spa and see what they say.

Edit... I don't use the app much and recently had to reconnect.. I can confirm that the robot's Power Center has to be connected to your Wi-Fi system to use the app..

Thanks,

Jim R.

We have a “Lazy L” around 33k gallons and since we got the 614iq we have been more than happy with it. Finally got all the leaves and stuff out, and now changed to the fine filter and it’s definitely worth the extra money.

I am not sure about the wifi, but I do have ours setup in the app to come on everyday at 8am and it will run 2.5 ours, but we do have WiFi. I know this isn’t much help, so I’d call Marina and ask.

Cel,

I am not sure if the schedule is stored in the Power Center or in the app itself???

Jim R.
Ours is connected to WiFi, but around 1030-1040am every day I get a notification from the app that it has finished cleaning and to rinse and clean it and I’ll be 30+ miles away. I’m thinking that once you set schedule, it runs on it and you don’t have to be home or worry about it.

I had a 614iq a few years ago and now that I am remembering I don't think I could set a schedule in the app but I could manually start it away from home. Have they updated the app where you can set an actual schedule now without having to go in the app to manually start it each time now?

Yes, here’s my schedule and it runs daily.
