I have an IC40 with no lights active on the cell itself. I saw the 12 amp fuse/low voltage breaker was tripped, and thought replacing it would remedy the issue but it hasn't. I've seen vids that indicate the salt board could be the problem, other input claims the entire cell is bad. What evidence is needed to determine the true issue at hand? Easytouch control panel.

Nathan,

With the cell disconnected, and the system in Auto, and Pool or Spa mode, you can test between the small red wires at J8 and J9 of the Surge Card, and you should get about 24 Volts AC..

If you have the 24 VAC input to the surge card, there should be about 30 to 40 volts DC on the large Red and Black wires going to the cell..

If you don't have the 24 VAC at J8 and J9, disconnect the wire from J9 and then test between J8 and the wire that was on J9 and see if you get about 24 Volts AC.. If you now get the 24 VAC, then the surge card is bad and your breaker is good.

If you still don't have the 24 Volts AC, then your breaker might be bad, or the Pump/Filter relay may not be closed, or you may not have an primary voltage getting to your SWCG transformer.

The board with the green light there, is that the surge board? The green light doesn't come on in the one I'm describing. I'll run the mentioned tests and see. Thx a ton

31 vac at J8 and J9. 12 amp/SCG RED brkr throws when I attach red wire to J9. No green light at surge card. Nothing at cell. What might that tell me?

Nathan,

If the cell is disconnected and it throws the breaker, then the surge card is bad..

If the cell is connected, then disconnect the cell and run the test again..

If the breaker does not pop with the cell disconnected than the cell is bad..

With the cell disconnected, do you get the green led with J9 connected to the card??

If you get the green led, do you also get about 30 to 40 volts DC between the large Red and Black wires on the plug that goes to the cell from the surge card?
