I know they have sales on systems all the time, but do they ever put cells on sale? Black Friday maybe? My Edge-40 cell may be coming to an end (only 3 years), so I thought I'd buy a new one as a back up. It's still producing, so I can wait. I'll have low salt blinking one week, and clean cell another, but no matter what I do they both won't go out. As long as my FC is above 5 I don't worry about it. And I may go to the Edge-25 cell to save some bucks, since the 40 is only set at 2-3 LEDs.

I don't know about individual sales, but my situation was similar to yours. Just wrapping up my 4th season with the RJ-45+ and have been dealing with the low salt/maint lights coming on for quite some time. I went ahead and got a new cell to take advantage of the prorated warranty amount remaining. Haven't done the swap yet as the original cell is hanging on by a thread, but I have the new one ready.

With the prorated warranty price you’re looking at around a $40 difference between the 40 & the 25. I would stick with the bigger one.

Have you verified that the cell type is set correctly?
Yes, went through the reset they provided. I just didn't want to send back a working cell before getting a new one. They said they wouldn't give the pro-rated price until they checked the old one. If I buy the new one, then I send back the old one, will the just give a credit, or will I need to buy another at the discounted price?

The way @Texas Splash worded his response sounds like he was able to keep his original cell - not send it in.
Correct. When I explained the troubleshooting already accomplished and that is was on it's 4th season, they were agreeable.

Curious if you dealt with Circupool or Discount Salt. DSP is telling me I need to send the cell in (my shipping cost) and will evaluate.

Good news on what I thought was a bad cell, check cell light finally went out! My solution was to use https://a.co/d/2Mkf0L6 with 9% vinegar. Cloudy "bubbles" lasted much longer than usual (after running snake up and down a few times), maybe 20-30 minutes. Next day, led was out. Hoping to get much longer life!

Follow up here. Solid "check cell" light came back, so I bought a new cell as a back up, then sent the 3 year old cell in to see what sort of warranty coverage I'd get. 60% off, so got the a new cell for $275 including tax and shipping. Well worth it!
