Brown snake, sometimes called De Kay's snake. My yard has always been full of them. I get way more of these than frogs in the pool.Hello small friend!
Maybe it's related.I get way more of these than frogs in the pool.
Could be! My backyard is quite the ecosystem. I have a mated pair of red shoulder hawks, that nest in my neighbors trees that seem to think these guys are tasty…Maybe it's related.![]()
Yeah, my wife’s not a fan either! On another note, I went out to dump the leaves from the skimmer bot, and discovered the little dude decided to take it for a cruise…My wife would totally freak out then subsequently pass out if she ever saw one of those in our pool. I thinks it’s kinda cool myself.
I only freak out when it’s a copperhead in the pool… which has happened to me. My neighborhood is in the city but it’s established with mature trees. They have been building up my side of town very rapidly over the last few years which means clear cutting all the surrounding land. The wildlife moves into my neighborhood. We have an entire heard of deer, plenty of snakes, frogs, lots of birds, Voles, at least three different species of hawks, owls, possibly a lone peregrine falcon (something has ripped a few of the hawks to shreds), coyote, foxes, raccoons, and possums. We don’t have bears or rattle snakes in this part of the state, otherwise I’m sure they would be hanging out in my backyard as well. I like it though. If we had a small eco system of wildlife, especially snakes, in our backyard, my wife would demand we put the house for sale. Honestly, I am a city slicker and snakes are my kryptonite.
