I removed the zeosand from the filter. The Air bleeder tube was just lying in ther sand and is broken on the end which was connected. I can feel a hole on the bottom of the lateral assembly is there where it plugs in? The top part was completely clogged and probably hasn't been operational.

Probably so. Which type of filter do you have? We don't see any pool or equipment details in your signature. The make/model of filter could help with replies.

American 24 in 3.14 sq ft model 5470000. Sandpiper
That hole i felt is not an open hole so there is no where to put this tube but in the sand with the other end out of the sand. Could this be right? My valve is on the side not top so I do have the gauge and air relief valve on top, easily accessible to release air, but not sure if this small tube is to prevent sand channels????

If you have a way to release air, the fact that the air relief vent tube became disconnected at the bottom is probably not a huge deal. I was looking at the diagram below, not sure if that's the same model filter you have, but the lower end of the hose gets connect down by the laterals or lower hub area. You may have to just leave it be for now. Perhaps at some point in the future when you open the filter to inspect the laterals or change sand, then you can reconnect it.

So it's a bump ? :ROFLMAO:

Is it possible the broken end of the rod is stuck / smushed in there so the rod no longer fits ?

You didn't have the rod without a place to put it. If the hole for it is open, sand and/or crud will leak into the pool.
